Do you guys think this intake is "too big" for my setup. I am looking to use something better than the SSI intake. My engine is design to make power upto 6500rpm. I am currently running 6lbs of boost but intent to go to 9-10lbs. Also the motor is still a 302. Of couse it is a street car and is used as such, with probably a few visits to the track in the future. What do you guys think?

I have also looked and the sheetmetal Hogan upper intake and use a ported gt-40/cobra lower. But again, do you think this maybe too much intake. My cobination, with a decent intake should be in the 500hp+ range, but I know the SSI is holding me back a little.

We run one on our 357 Turbo with about 12-14# of boost. It's fine - low end torque is OK - but it's a 357 - may be different on a 302. You'll need a big hood though...

I don't have alot of experience with the sheetmetal intakes, but I have heard some good things about the Hogan intake. I understand your concern about it being too hardcore for your setup though. I would think that you could take more advantage of the intake since you will be pushing some boost (especially once you make the move to 9-10lbs), as opposed to a N/A motor. Can your SSI be ported any? Or do you just not want to go through the hassle?

What about the BBK SSI-R intake? http://www.mustang50magazine.com/techarticles/m5lp_0603_bbk_intake/

Reichard Racing has a very pricey one
http://www.reichardracing.com/small_block_ford_intakes.php

And don't forget the Downs Box upper.

^^these are all probably worth looking into. I'm sure each of them is aimed at a certain RPM/boost level, so one may be better suited to you than the others.

Also, there's the Spyder intake...but I have only seen this intake on really hardcore setups, so it might be too much.

Dan, yeah I have looked at all those options. As you can tell, I want to go with something different. I have looked at the spyder intakes as well, but they even seem to be "too big" for my setup. I want an intake that will match my combo and work well but I also want something pleasing to the eye. Meaning I don't really like the looks or setup of the typical efi intake, I want something different. I found this site which gets my idea juices flowing.

Those are pretty nice.

I don't think the Hogan would be too much for your setup really. I did a little researching on it, and from what I have read, it should be good on any boosted application or a high RPM N/A motor. Plus, if you're looking for performance, plus looks and something you don't see every day, the Hogan is where it's at. Fabbed aluminum is just damn sexy looking, and you know that when you pop that hood anybody who knows their mustangs will go "ooh look, a Hogan intake...sweet!"

Yeah, thats what I was thinking. Thanks for getting me wet thinking about that intake. Now I got to come up with some flow to get one. I know where there is one for sale but I don't have the loot yet.

By the way, the BBK SSI is now for sale!!!

the hogan should be okay. its not that you couldn't run it, it just might not gain all the horsepower it could. that's what i was thinking about the TFS box upper. i should have explained better.

Prokiller - No need to explain better. I understand the theory, and thats why I don't want to put "too big" of an intake on, it will be a big waste of money.
