A while back I had posted about my not so exciting drag racing experience. I was running 1000ft (full track length at the local track) and was hitting low 12's, and a best of 11.9. This was only my second time on the strip, and you all said it should improve, offered some great advice on how to improve. Went today and ran a 11.42. I ran 6 times, started at a 11.8, improved every run (except the last where I tried shifting 200rpm later). My 60ft is still horrible, I'm hoping I can get in the 11.2's with practice (also had tire/jack/few tools/etc in the trunk that didn't help, along with a 3/4 tank of gas.

Reaction: .6348 (was just concentrating on getting off the line, not worried about the reaction time).
60ft: 2.22
330ft: 5.93
1/8: 9.00
1/8 mph: 81.27
1000ft: 11.42
1000ft mph: 93.85

11.2's possible, what do you guys think?

I knew the car had ran 11.4 at the same track, so I knew it was capable of that, just excited I finally got there and how easy/quick it happened (first trip back to the track). Although I said I wouldn't, I think I'm about to start working on the rear. Drag radials are out, I refuse to spend that much on tires that I might get one year out of. I'm gonna go with wider tires rear for sure. I'm thinking LCA's. I already have 3.73's, thought about 4.10's but I finish in 3rd at about 6500 RPM, so with them I'd have to hit 4th and don't believe it would help. I know practice will help some. I ran 6 times, and EVERY time my 60ft improved. My last run was 2.1, so it's getting better. What is a good 60ft on street tires? Thanks.

Yea that sounds pretty good on streets. What tires are you running?

245/45/17 Nitto 555's. Next time I buy tires I will probably go 275 in the rear. I'm looking at new rims, really considering 03 Cobras with 10.5 rears, but then I'm stuck with very few tire options (since it is my dd). Either way, an inch more tread, plus experience, should allow me to improve.

Dude wide rears are the only way to go. I run 10.5 DD on my daily. They look 1847848424898 times better and hook well.

The ONLY thing keeping me from a 315 rear is tires. I've done a good bit of research to find an all season tire in a 315, and just can't do it. I drive quite often in the rain and very little in snow (once, maybe twice a year). However, I'll suffer a few tenths at the track to have an A/S tire that can handle those conditions. I'm hoping to make it though this winter on my Nittos, we'll see how well that goes and go from there. I'm putting my Christmas bonus back, then when I get my tax return I'll know if the Nittos will work or not, and also have the funds to get whatever setup I decide on, all in enough time to hit the track when it opens back up.
