Jim

Thanks man for all the help. The car made good numbers stock and after you helped it out

I was just wondering if you knew what the drivetrain loss is on these cars? I was figuring an even 15% should do it about right.

And by the way the car is running flawlessly. The car just pulls through the rev range like no other. Just absolutly smooth, very controllable.

Thanks again man
Take it easy and I will be intouch.

It's hard to say what the "real" power loss is because we don't know what it really makes with the engine and accessories on an engine dyno.
We know what Ford says, but when have they ever been accurate?
We already know they can't tune =o)

I'll get the dyno data sorted for you on Monday and I'll e-mail you the plots, compares, data, etc...

BTW.....that hiccup on sudden decel, particularly in 2nd gear. (You know...when it lunges back and forth if you get into it and lift suddenly at 5,000 rpm in 2nd gear)
It's a lot better now isn't it?
I wonder why Ford never addressed that issue.....they all do it stock.
Good way to stretch rods.....

Vic

As far as the low RPM lift its still the same, but I think thats all drivetrain slop. I haven't noticed the jerk and buck in the higher RPMs, merely because I am either shifting or pushing in the clutch to decel, I will try to run it up and decel with it next time we get some dry streets, maybe tomorrow after the big race hehe.

I will definatly be trying to get up to Bradenton motorsports and see what this beast will turn.

Vic - do you know what this is? I have had this happen to me. Almost like it stalled for a second? Once while decelerating into a corner and down shifting from third to second. I had it happen once on hard acceleration from second to third. Damn dash lit up like a christmas tree. I was planning to take in it for service.

That's a separate issue (and one that I've never seen). If your dash is lightning up, you may be having the stalling issue. If you stall on a roll..a simple shift or clutch movement wil start the car again and you may never know it actually stalled.

This other problem is not a staling issue, no dash lights come up...t's simply a "quark" the cars have with stock tuning. Every 03/04 I've driven stock does it.

Run through first gear...shift...rrun amost all the way through second HARD, then sidestep the accelerator around 5500-6000 RPM but don't touch the brake or clutch.....a stock cobra will "rock" back and forth as if you are hitting and letting off the gas over and over again very rapidly. It's only do it for a second or two, but it's VERY annoying and not good the the engine or motor mounts, etc...
Do it in the rain and you may go for a unexpected ride.

A superchips tune cures this issue, and at the very least make it much less noticeable on cars where it's really bad.
I can't go into how the problem is remedied with the tune (proprietary), but it's logical enough someone else (Ford) should have figured it out by now.
