The $4,000 Question

blown is the way to go. dont waste money on small mods that wont make a differance. get the mongoose kit (vortech or paxton) and you will be much happier!

if you're still wondering, just ask anyone of the s/c guys on here if they regret buying their blower. i know i dont:D

i have daily driven a t trim kit from Tim for 3 tears now and have never had a prob. Its like the other guys say you can spend 3k on bolt ons and not get a third of the power a blower can give you.just call the shop and ask they always have guys changing combos and you might luck up on a deal

I spent about 4 grand on a KB, it's in a 99Gt 5speed car. I run this car on 1200 mile trips. It' s the less expensive kit that runs 6psi of boost and no intercooler. It got 23mpg on I75 between Tampa FL and Atlanta Ga. Through the Smokies it knocked down 19mpg, and unlike a N/A car, was a beast at high altitudes, and was a blast to drive through the twisties (highly recomended BTW).
I will tell you this, KB customer service is horrible, but their kits are topnotch with great instructions. What I would highly recomend is that you purchase a "tuner kit" from KB and have a local guy (with a dyno)supply the injectors, chip, etc. I have 2 recomendations, www.racerelated.com (pinellas cty, fla) www.jmschip,com (tenn) or a place called vettemasters in Orlando fla. Those 3 I can personally recomend, I'm sure their are others out there. It dyno'd at 342rwhp I forget the torque off hand, but I believe it was well into the 300.
IMO the n/a changes that you would have to make to do that, would cost you at least 4grand, and would also have the result in killing the gas mileage. A N/A car would also be a slug way above sea level (if that matters to you).
One last thing, this, or any blower will place about 60 pounds over the front end, which doesn't exactly make the handling of the mustang any better, So you might want to buy the largest rear swaybar you can find to kind of even that out.

Your best bang for the buck would be to order the kit with a 3.33" pulley instead of the stock 3.60" pulley. Then at a later time you can add a power pipe.

I purchased a used aftercooled mongoose kit from MPH about 6 months ago and it has been great. The mongoose kit will be the best mod will ever make to your stang.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who posted a reply. Like I said, I'm going with the Vortech Mongoose kit, probably the S-Trim cuz I want the noise:D .

I will be purchasing the first week of April and I assume a couple of weeks for everything to get here. Hopefully be installed by the end of April. I will post up when its allllllll done.

Well, let me start off by saying TY to everyone who replied to this thread, I appreciate. Unfortunately I have come to the conclusion that it would be financially irresponsible of me to drop my whole $4k on a supercharger. My girlfriend also stands behind this statement....LOL:owned: Soooo, I have decided to do about $1200-$1500 worth of upgrades. I purchased FRPP 3:73's a few months back and did not have them installed (returning them for 4:10's). I am a field tech. for Tickets.com and do lots of traveling before spring training for MLB in FL (not that you care). Therefore I spent lots of cash in December and January for travel and have been receiving all my reimbursement checks, hence the ability to save some coin. I have my appointment for this coming Wednesday for the gear install. I had a couple of questions:

1) Is this what I currently have in my stock rear end? http://www.mustangsunlimited.com/itemdy00.asp?T1=M4204F288+01
2)Would it be wise to just purchase a tuner like the SCT X-CAL so I can adjust my speedometer and then have it for other uses for $400 or just get the speedcal for $100? I like the idea of the tuner, but will it be worth the $400 consider what I have for mods (BBK O/R X, soon to be Flowmasters catback, soon to be 4:10's, soon to be TB and Plenum).
3) The shop that is installing the gears is not to familiar with my Traction Lok. I did not ask how much more to rebuild it. Does this procedure usually cost more in addition to the gear install?
4)Is this Ratech kit comparable to the Ford Racing kit? http://www.mustangsunlimited.com/itemdy00.asp?T1=RT46+01

*4:10 Gears - 210.00 (Mustangs Unlimited)
*T-Lok Rebuild Kit - 50.00 (Mustangs Unlimited)
*3QT's Royal Purple 75W90 - 30.00 (Mustangs Unlimited)
* 4oz Friction Modifier - 4.00 (Mustangs Unlimited)
*Install Kit - 80.00 ?Ratech? (Mustangs Unlimited)

Do I need anything else? I told the guy I would supply EVERYTHING for him.

Thanks...

1) Yes you already have that if you want you could upgrade to the 31 spline and axles. Then you can launch like a mother on slicks and be safe.

2) The XCal is nice to have becaues you can do so much with it and when you get a tune youll need one. On top of that you can pick up a few ponies with one now.

3) I dont know if its really needed unless its going bad.
