I finally got my 4:10 installed and man what a difference. I knew my stock gear was tall but when it was removed I found out just how tall. It had a 2:73 gear! So you can imagine the difference going from 2:73 to 4:10. I pulls you back hard in the seat 1st through 3rd. Now if I can find a set of headers to go with the rest of the exhaust and get some other bolt ons and do the cam and head swap it should be a completely different ride. Then of course going with a power adder. Not sure if I am gonna supercharge or turbo. I am on a budget and have to save for what ever I can get. My speedometer is way off now but I ordered the new speedo gear from UPR today.

Congrats!

A set of tires will be your best investment before you add more power.

It was a noticeable jump from the 3.27's to 3.73's in my car so I can only imagine for yours! Start off in 2nd gear in the rain unless your tires will hold. My KDW2's don't do so well but they are 295's.

Ordered my new tires while they were installing the gear. The will be here tomorrow! Any other suggestions on what I should do next. I am looking for a set of headers so what should I do after that?

Since you already said you going FI, don't spend a penny on anything. Save up for a nice blower. 4.10's will be a handful on the street with a blower, but it will be worth it. You have a plan to go FI, stick to it and get there as quickly as possible.

Would you fool with the cams and P.I. heads? I was also looking at a C&L plenum, Accufab 75mm throttle body and CAI. Should I just to the FI?

Nope, I wouldn't touch it, unless you do all the work. Labor goes for 85-105 an hour at a good shop. You can pick up PI cams and the intake for 150 bucks. Then you have to buy all the gaskets, small parts to do it. The intake swap is not that bad, but one of the back brackets is hard to get to if you have big hands and limited tools. If you are doing the work, then get PI cams and the PI intake. I have documented the PI intake is worth .2 alone, and the cams are worth another .2. You should pick up around 3+mph with them. They will really help out your numbers with a blower, too.

Look at the long term goals, you want to go FI, so don't nickle and dime yourself on small gains. It will hold you back on your goals. I would save for the FI route.

I second the notion of saving till you get that FI setup you want. Its the bulk and most drastic change for the modds you have on your wish list. You'll start off with a lower psi due to your stock internals but that can be changed later.

But if you just had a itch to add one more modd soon I'd invest in sub-frame connectors. They would help you keep traction with those 4:10's your now sporting. Plus they can be had on budget.

I do most of my own labor. When I have time. I had a buddy install the gears but I will be doing the rest myself. I have found a cobra motor that I can pick up for $1000. I actually found it on this board. I was surprised nobody had bought it.

I am pretty sure it is a 97 with 83000 miles on it. He did say it had a tick in the top end. I sent him a deposit and now trying to work out a time to pick it up and pay the balance.

So you changed your future goals and are now going with a 4v? You really should have gone with 4.30's in a 4v.

I am probably going to put the cobra motor in another gt body. I drive m 97 GT daily so 4:10's was really as low as I could go.
