I'll believe it when i see it. I can't imagine Ford would bring back the pushrod engine (although that would be sweet).

Took the words right out of my mouth.
The topic creator's boss has been smoking on the peace pipe a little too much.

We'll see a larger displacement version of the modular engine with DOHC before we'll see another production pushrod Ford. I think it's a damn shame too because i don't believe pushrod power is dead...but to Ford i think it is.

Ford will need to do something before Dodge and Chevy bring the pain with the new camaro and challenger. All of the competition will have 6+ liter v8's in a couple of years. If I had the money I would jump on a challenger in a heartbeat.

The 4.6 will stay for at least 4 more years.

Remember one thing: Mustangs were never meant to be the absolute best muscle car available on a dealer lot. They are primitive, and left to the buyer to choose what to do with. Bread and butter so to speak. The Mustang is not competition to the Challenger and Camaro. The Shelby is.

peace pipe?

get the latest issue of 5.0 magazine there is an article in there about the motor and next gen mustang with a pic. there is no way that is a mod motor. plugs on side of heads is one indicator. but like i said before weve got the PROTOTYPE molds for this. remember what prototype means development and testing. for new product launch is it that hard to believe that it takes years of development?

The Shelby's price tag puts it in a league of its own. at close to 50k the shelby is moving in on vette price territory. the challenger will cost more than the mustang or camaro, but the base camaro which from what I have heard will only have a v8 will start in a price range that is comparable with a mustang gt

Yeah Ford also built a "prototype" V10 Mustang too....what happened to that one? Don't believe the mags, don't believe your boss even if the CAR is sitting right in front of you. Until it hits production and you see it at the dealership, it's all just talk and talk is super super cheap these days.

If ANYTHING they *might* put the Boss 302 in a limited edition Mustang, but there's no chance in hell it'll be the run-o-the-mill production Mustang engine.

My guess is that yes, the Challenger will compete with the GT, but knowing Chrysler, there will be an SRT-8 version, probably with their 6.1L "Hemi" engine, or an advanced derivative. The Camaro will be higher up too..sticker somewhere around the GT500.

Forget what you've heard. All you have heard is rumors and flat out guesses. I'm guessing, but I'm using indicators, and behavior markers from the companies to come up with a logical, and plausible guess.

You're right, it won't have a normal Mustang engine. If it's ever made, it will probably have the Ford Racing power package just like all of the other S197 "special editions".

Might not be a bad idea considering the land yatch that is the GT500...3800lbs is one fat ass car for a modern 2 door.

What I remember reading a while back was that Ford was going to Bore and Stroke the 4.6 to 5.0 so that they could call the car the Boss 302.

no no no i work at jl french we make a good chunk of ford engine parts and transmission cases and also a couple of blocks. its an aluminum die casting facility. like i said before we just got a die in for a 6.2l gasoline engine the project cordinator said it was for a f-150 first then to be released as a 6.2l boss motor for the next gen stang. im guessing that it will be a pushrod motor by other articles ive read. take it for what you will. only time will tell. in the mean time i will be saving money

They did. You can buy it as a crate engine...the 5.0L Cammer.

I think my dad said that they put them in 03-04 Cobra's, but I haven't confirmed that.

The only engine the 5.0L "cammer" went in is the FR500.

Also correct me if i'm wrong but isn't the Cammer around 400hp NA? It's a badass little engine. They could throw a twin screw on that for one badass combo.
