Very good, Tyler. You're up to date. But don't forget Mazda.... some models border on luxury cars, too. (Wellll, maybe the brand isn't classed as such.....)

The ones I quoted are all a part of Ford's "PAG" or Premier Automotive Group. Mercury is the only one that is rumored to be removed from PAG. The PAG is Ford's luxury car division.

Cop car to police departments, luxury car for retirement home parking lots.

Either way, it is still the most luxurious car in Ford's line up. And if you have ever been in one (not the back seat ) you would know that they are indeed Ford's luxury model.

Mercury was never part of PAG.

Lincoln was removed from PAG almost 2 years ago.

Looks like I just got

Seriously though, I could have sworn that all of them were still in the PAG and Mercury was too.

Regardless, it still does not take away from the debate at hand.

Does Ford actually have a Luxury car?

I think the Crown Victoria is considered a luxury car.

All are built by plants/divisions of Ford Motor Company. It doesn't matter that Ford chooses to limit the Ford name to certain models of the cars it sells, they are still all Ford Motor Company products. All divisions of the same company, just like Chevrolet, Buick, Pontiac, Cadillac, Saturn, Hummer, etc. are all GM cars, even though none have "GM" in the name (okay: GMC does)

The fact remains: Ford (meaning Ford Motor Company, obviously, not a particular automobile) sells more luxury cars in North America than any other carbuilder.

But we're not talking about luxury cars, and we're not talking about sports cars or pickup trucks. We're talking about Mustangs here. My comment was just to express the thought that Ford could improve the warranty on Mustangs.

How can a staunch conservative also be an environmentalist? I only know of the liberals to be environmentalists. You are in the minority then.

I'm taking the risk here to make myself look very dumb, as I havent bothered to read the whole thread..but I sure hope ALL 12 pages arent complaints about the '05 granted there a few complaints I have to make myself, but overall I'm very excited for this car to come out! I can't wait til I see one driving down the road

For the most part, all of the pages of this thread were started by complaints

A friend of mine had one. (yes I know its weird that a 22 year old kid would drive one, but it worked out well in high school when we were always causing trouble in it.)
Yeah the car is nice and spacious, but it had little in the way of luxury. But man what a smooth ride. I would consider the Town Car to be the luxury model of the Crown Vic. I dunno, Crown Vics just never struck me as being anything too special. But what do I know?

Someone at Ford Bumped their head ...!

I'm sorry. The 2005 Mustang is a disaster. What where they thinking ????

I mean think about it:
235/55/17 wheels ???? Are they completely OUT of their MINDS???
WIDER and LOWER is what they needed. Not Narrower and taller!!!
I was thinking 235/35/18 front 265/35/18 rear (or if it must the same 245/40/18)

Solid rear axle. What the F*** !!! We want the thing to go around corners too!!! This is the biggest gripe I have always had with my Mustang, thought this would give me a reason to upgrade...

3 valves??? Why design a new head???? Why not just use the 4 valver that they used in the Mach 1 and bump the output to a good 350hp by also increasing the engine size... 5.0 or 5.4....

The dash - now this is just a personal taste thing. Looks horrible. I mean it will ONLY suit those that like the old 60's look. I HATE it.

Bottom line is - I was thinking of upgrading my 02 to an 05 but there is no serious performance increasing reason for me to do so. In fact in a number of aspects the 05 is a serious backward step.

I will now consider upgrading to a car that is designed for a serious performance driver. May have to be European.

I'd like to think I am not the only one of this opinion ...What do you all think?

Oh my friend I feel so bad for you.

First, all of your points have been argued on this board for months now, although it seems like years. So, you should have done some research.

Second, you can get 255?/40?/R18's as an option.

Third, True drag racers want the solid rear axle, plus it is cheaper. Helping to keep the cost of the car down. If you want IRS get a cobra.

Forth, the three valve heads are cheaper, again helping to keep the cost of the car down. The 3v GT get 300 HP compared to 305(underrated) in the 4v Mach. Is 5 HP worth all the extra money.

Fifth, the dash, can't help you there.

So, what you are saying is that, 40 more HP, a much better chassis, better weigth distribution for not that much more money is a bad thing?

How much $$$ are the 300HP Euro cars? Kinda pricey, I think. The only Euro car I can think of that might compete with the Mustang is the BMW M3 for $50k+. For the rest, do some research on this site (you could start with the article on the new car linked from the homepage or search the threads). Since the rear was designed to be IRS compatible it will be available through the aftermarket and/or as an option soon. The 3 valve design is for upcoming emissions requirements. Put on whatever wheels you want. Most people seem to like the dash. Anyway, I'm sure Tyler will paste this into the complaint thread soon, so...

The M3 is simply out of this league. You can't compare it to the current GT. Sorry. I could suggest coulple of solutions for you. First, a domestic solution. There is always the Pontiac GTO (not recommended). If you insist on going on European without breaking your bank account, there is another Ford product. Have you considered the "lowly" Volvo S60R w/ aerodynamics kit (IMO, they look nice)? 6-sp transmission. Three adjustable suspension settings. Flat 295 lb-ft torque from 1950-5250 rpm. 300HP. 0-60mph in 5.5 secs. Insurance rate as low as a TOYOTA COROLLA due to the safety measures. Not bad at $40k,eih?

If you are willing to go Japanese, there are people that will suggest you to get the Nissan 350Z, Infiniti G35 coupe/sedan, Mazda RX-8, Subaru Impreza WRX STi, or my personal fav Mitsu Evolution.

Styling is a subjective matter for you to measure. I just give you a list of cars that perform about equal or better from the current GT withing a reasonable price range.

Good luck.
