The driveshaft and the radio?

I bought a 91 convertible a while back and put a 5 speed in it. I noticed that the driveshaft I used did not have the dampener on the front yoke. I haven't noticed anything strange in smoothness or drivability...but! I just wonder about the dampeners function.
Next is a bit odd. When I got this car I noticed its cheap radio would turn the volume down when I shut off the car. I slide a stock radio into it specifically to get rid of this and the stocker does the same thing!! Anyone know about this and how to make it stop?
Thanks

I think he was just asking about two things which he wondered about.

For the DS, autos have the damper on the DS, and sticks dont IIRC.

Radio - you got me. The volume control is internal. My sis had one like that once and a fresh deck fixed it. The power supply to the deck cant modulate the volume.

Good luck.
