I bought a new Northern radiator from summit for my 65 mustang convert. It went in pretty easy and the bolt holds lined up fine. I'm guessing that the stock fan was about 1/2" from the radiator. Everything looked good. I took off and went over one mountain pass and everything was GREAT. Coming back I took this really steep road. I had the RPM's really up there in order to get as much power as I could and then I heard it. The fan hit the radiator. It took me about a 150 years of up hill pulling before I could get off the road. The radiator had a small leak and some groves from the fan. I pulled the fan blades back and limited home, using a few rpm's as I could. Easy when it's downhill. Wow, you talk about a brused ego.
I'm getting the radiator fixed and I need a new fan. I am reworking the entire engine compartment. Getting ride of wires, battery and really cleaning it up. So I've been looking at electric fans. I don't need heavy duty cooling.
I saw a cool fan on HistoricMustang's pictures and I was wondering what that is, if its any good and what kind of modifications I would have to make to get the fan installed. What I liked was that it wasn't bulky. I'm pretty sure I can get by without a fan shroud. This would further clean things up.
So what would ya'll suggest for a fan? Thanks in advance for the help.
