That sounds like the MOAD. What a dealio. A few Items:
Ahem.
I assume stock block?
SRP pistons are A step above Hyper U craptic,....They are still forged, but they are made from a higher silicon ratio that a standard forged piston.
Kits that feature I beam rods typically are accompanied by a Cast steel crank, Although it's way better than the stock piece.......might wanna ck before you attempt to spray that plate system all over it.
P.S. A big Shot plate is NOT a dry kit. If it was any wetter, you could enter it in a T shirt contest.

Ehh... Gonna attempt this on my iPhone.

Yes, stock block.

Yes, gonna check it all out. But it will be a while before I spray anything while learning how to drive this thing.

Yes, wet kit. My apologies, I don't know about nitrous either. I doubt I ever use it actually. That's probably a lie too.

I do fully intend to swap to EFI soonish as I have most if the stuff to do so. I'm still kinda in shock about all of this. Gonna take it a step at a time and see how it goes. Really need a cage now too.

There's also the option of building my 408 and selling this 427 for a profit. I dunno.

In 91, Saddam Hussein basically dared the US to attack, letting anyone know that we were in for the Mother Of All Battles. As you know, that turned out to be a joke, as SH's military soon learned after getting The Mother Of All Bombs dropped on just about every hardened site w/i the next several days.

Oh yeah,,,(almost forgot) I was saying that you got The Mother Of All Deals.

Nothing much has happened. Still waiting on the loan to go through so I can pick up the motor and trans. Will happen tomorrow absolutely.

Yesterday, I decided to install the windage tray on the 408. WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP. After failing to realize you MUST buy the stud kit (+$44), that was ordered last week and got it yesterday. Studs are in fine. Windage tray goes on fine. Oil pump pickup? Not a popsicle's chance in hell this thing is going to fit. So I call Jegs.
Operator:"Oh, well on the instructions there you'll see that you need to order the PN 23894791823649782 MOROSO oil pump pickup."
Me: "Oh, well how much is that?"
Op: "$67"
Me: "HAHAHAH no thanks, I've got a grinder."

So grind I did.

Made some marks to show where I need to clear the oil pump, mount for the tube, AND the 90* elbow where it goes down to the sump.

This is how far down it needs to move:

I was angry. This made me feel better. And a message to whoever buys my engine.

By hoopty50 at 2012-04-24

I'll spare the ugliness I made with my trusty DeWalt grinder. Here's how I left it, completed.

Well, I would, but had another typical O'reillys visit today.

Me: "I need an oil pan gasket for a 351 windsor from the early 90's"
Her: <blank stare> "You talked fast. What car was that again?"
Me: <returned blank stare> "Engine, it was an engine.....nevermind. Type in F250"
Her: "Ok. <types> What engine size?"
Me: "THREEEEE FFFFIIIIIFFFFFFTTTYYYYYY OOOOOOOONEEEEEEEEEEEEE"
Her: I can't find that.

Sweet mother of buddah. These people are allowed to vote.

Ended up having to order them, so no worky on car today. Tomorrow the loan goes through so I'll have lots to show and tell tomorrow night.

Oh man, you did that wrong. you could have tried fifteen different vehicles and eventually one would've popped up in stock... IT HAD TO. Call them back and try for an f150, an e150, a '70 mustang, a mid 70's ltd an 80's vic interceptor.... I've done that and had luck, don't know why the system works that way..

It helps if the kid at the counter has a brain, but that's not required to work there anymore, unfortunately..

I miss HI/LO... the world ended when ORLY'S bought them out.

After a little research, I realized I have a 4150 flange intake and the elbow definitely isnt that. So, I guess I'll be selling it to buy the correct one.

Also, the bank lied to me. I went in today to get my loan and they said, "Oh, that takes 2 weeks."

Me: "Then why did the lady tell me last friday that I would have it TODAY?!?!?"

Her: " <shrugs> I dunno.>

WHATTTHEEHEEELLLLLLL?!?!?!?!? Fortunately, I have awesome friends. One of which is willing to loan me the money I need until the loan goes through in another week. So I'm gonna go trek across town and round up some funds. Then I guess I'll install my coveted gaskets from O'Really? and get the 408 ready to move. I really need that thing to sell.

Or, look in Summit and buy a squarebore to dominator adapter.

unless hood clearance is an issue..

Naww mayne. I needs an excuse to run a 10" cowl hood anywayz .

But seriously, would that work? Hood clearance is probably going to be an issue anyway

Sure it'll work. All it is is an adapter plate to run a double pumper carb on a dominator 4150 flanged intake or vice versa if you flip it over. Your elbow is the smaller double pumper style "square bore" carb flange and the intake is dominator. Nuttin to it.

it will make it 2 inches taller, though.

Here's one that's a little shorter.

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PFS-20100/

Look around and see what else is out there, seems like I've seen one that was one inch thick some years back, if it's still made. But, keep in mind the thicker it is, the better the transition will be turbulence-wise.

I think Im going to look for something like that. Seems to be the best way to go.

Well, I had more fun with moroso products. Here is the gap between the block and the pan. The pump and pick up are too tall for the pan.

So, instead of losing my patience, I just flipped the biotch over and kept going.
