Got the mustang on the road this week! Had a problem with my fan relay, but this has been resolved. Only one major issue. The clutch was tough to disengage so I limped it back home and found the stock clutch cable cratered. Completely seized. Replaced the cable but it was still tough. I ended up disconnecting the cable and found my clutch fork was jamming! I thought I could get away with my old t5 fork.
So I pulled out the driveshaft, transmission, and my bellhousing to get at everything. Here is what I found. My transmission had markings in line with my pivot
The marking on the release bearing showed the same.
I picked up a new bearing and lake wood fork. I cleaned the marking off the input shaft. You can see the lakewood fork allows the release bearing to move closer to the pivot. The old fork caused the bearing to move in an arc that interfered. This was a pain in the dick.
After everything buttoned up, set up all the alignment, and rechecked all the bolts and clearances on the car. No problems. The car was running rich but I drove and tuned what I could during city driving and some highway cruising. Going to dump the oil again and she will be ready for some dyno time within the next 500km or so.
The car sounds amazing. It goes like a raped pig! Had it on the scales and with a full tank of fuel(80 litres!) The car weighed 3018 lbs with a front weight of 49%! I played a bit with the handling and it runs like it is on rails.
I feel strange that it is done... Kind of like if Wile E. Coyote caught the roadrunner. Now what. I guess I can start having a life again. lol
