the LoudMouth is off...

So after about six months, I've decided the SLP Loudmouth is named that way for a good reason. Unfortunately, my daily driver, a '93 Probe GT, is dying. No surprise with 180K miles on the clock. So the 'Stang has to take over daily driver duties and the Loudmouth is a bit much for my 50 mile commute, especially with the 3.90s. So, any advice on a sweet-sounding cat-back that would be more bearable for a daily driver? I'm keeping the SLP catted X, at least until I hit a big enough speed bump to knock it off. :nonono:

I'm thinking the Borla stinger might be nice, but I'm afraid that would be too obnoxious. Magnaflow is out of the question since I'm installing it in my driveway, and I understand those systems come as a single piece. Any thoughts?

Yes, I've been to mustangexhaust.com, and that's what is leading me away from the Borla stinger.

Magnaflows are definately "bearable" for long commutes and trips. They are actually pretty quiet with the stock h-pipe until high the higher rpm range. I didn't install mine, but wished I did while watching the guy at the exhaust shop do it. It's pretty simple, even for a computer guy who doesn't proclaim to be a mechanic (did I even spell it right) :D

I see a lot of Magnaflow votes. Is there any drone with that system? I cruise at about 80 which is approx. 2500 rpm with my gears.

Zinc03GT: the 3.90s are great. If I had it to do again, I might have gone with 3.73s but I'm definitely not dissapointed with the ratio I got. 5th gear is actually useful below 75mph, and 4th is a perfect passing gear.

Another vote for Magnaflow from a 5.0 guy here...

There is NO DRONE! :nice:

When I bought my car it had 2-chamber Flowmasters on it. I put a ProChamber on and the drone was horrible. I mean it was bad with the stock exhaust, but when you lose the cats and go with an offroad pipe the drone gets way more pronounced. So then I went to longtubes + a shorty ProChamber, and the longtubes reduced the drone by about 75% but it was definitely still there, especially around the infamous 2,000-2,200 RPM range. I finally got tired of my constantly-rusting MAC chrome tips and bought a Magnaflow catback, and the drone was gone! Sounds awesome at WOT, too!!

Why would you go with 3:73??

Yeah, don't buy a new catback.. just buy mufflers with a center inlet/outlet and weld them in.. You've got the nice mandrel bent SS 2.5" pipe already up there, but i know not a whole lot can fit since you have the drive shaft close by .. I'd check out some of the universal mufflers from borla.

I got the borla stinger on my GT and it sounds sweet! It had a deep, mean sounding tone with the factory h pipe. I put on an offroad x and its WAY to LOUD!!! I think i'm going to put and offroad h on it the x pipe is too high pitched for my liking. Any way Huston performance has the stinger for like $440 and its an easy install. It will make your car so sweet its not to loud but not to quiet; just loud enough to turn heads. Good luck
