I kinda like the all red conversion that everyone else has done but always thought it looked incomplete or just out of place. I always kinda assumed it was because I was so used to seeing the amber lens, but adding the reverse light really completes it.

For a more direct comparison:

Nothing major to report yet - replaced all 4 brake light sockets and now have brake lights all around. But 2 of the bulbs are bad now as I only have 2 tail lights.

I messed with the parts car's tail lights to see what I could do with them and the reverse lights. So far, I've not been able to get the one that was still attached to release from the amber lens. I imagine that's why no one's gotten anything like that done. It looks like I'll need to do some measuring and take them into work to set them up on a mill and cut the lenses out if I want to go this route.

I did some cleaning and arranging out there after that. Still need to get my benches cleared off....

You know - this gives me another idea....

When I had the car repainted in 2001ish I had the stud holes filled and left this panel blank as well as the header panel. It looks bare with nothing there, but I wasn't a fan of the script. I was thinking of maybe moving the spoiler "COBRA II" decal down to this spot, but I think this looks better than just using a vinyl or painted script. So I did some searching and it didn't take long to find someone who sells custom lettering that may work. For ~$20 it may be worth a look....

I can't seem to locate any pics, but @Vegas Stang did a 3 red light conversion a little differently than most and used some self adhesive chrome strips on the lenses to replicate the original Cougar's lights. That kind of gave the illusion of one solid red tail light....

He hasn't been around in forever - but here's his first thread: https://stangnet.com/mustang-forums/threads/greetings-from-vegas.739964/ He had a pretty good looking silver hatch that he gave the red Cobra II stripe treatment to.

I will admit-I used a cougar tail light with Gemini to make the one piece tail lights lol
