Hey wassap.
I had a 88 notchback way back in the day, and it never gave me much problems.
I just recently (2 days ago) bought another one.
this time its a 93 mustang gt convertible. It came with the following performance parts so he says:
trick flow heads
e303 cam (spelled right?)
metal clutch quadrant
centerforce clutch
flowmasters
in the trunk i have 355 gears, just need to install them.
and it looks like it has new injectors, unless the stock injector case color is orange (any idea what cc injecs they might be?)
The cars in rough shape physically, but thats another thing i guess.
The strange thing with it is, the dipstick dissapeared!! not even the tube that the dipstick goes into is around. I can see where the tube plugged into, *i think* The car is leaking a small amount of oil, which might be because of this, dont know.

But the main thing is, alot of hesitation untill i hit 3-4k rpms. The car hauls ass then, but for the most part its pretty god damn slow on the take.
any ideas?

thanks

1.) Stock 19 LB injectors are orange or tan depending on how old they are.
2.) Tune up -plugs, cap, rotor, wires, fuel & air filter.
3.) Dump the codes and see what the computer says is wrong…

Here's the link to dump the computer codes with only a jumper wire or paper clip and the check engine light, or test light or voltmeter. I’ve used it for years, and it works great.

See http://www.troublecodes.net/Ford/
OR
See http://www.dalidesign.com/hbook/eectest.html for more descriptive help
OR
See http://www.mustangworks.com/articles/electronics/eec-iv_codes.html

4.) Put a magnet up to the heads - if it sticks, they are NOT aluminum. If the heads are aluminum, pull the rocker covers. If the rockers are stud mount with guide plates for the pushrods, they are more than likely Trick Flow heads.

Install your gears. It's the stock gearing more than likely is why you have more power above 3k. It takes a bit of lugging with the stock gears to get it rolling but when you get up to about 3k it really takes off, especially if you were used to the 3.55's that you had in your '89.

The stock intake is your bottleneck here, upgrade this and you'll be 300+FWHP easy.

Was at the shop all day today, got some more serious technical info:

Trick flow track-heat twisted-wedge Heads
Crane roller rocker arms
hooker long tube headers
B303 ford cam
new lifters
3:55 rearend was already installed, the one in my trunk is the stock gear
metal clutch quadrant
centerforce clutch
k&n filter
550 cc RC injectors (so we think)
Dual flowmasters
H-Pipe
aftermarket pulleys
5.0 pro shifter
extruded intake manifold

The reason it was sold so cheap, was the headgaske on port side, along with 2 lifters were shot. The engine was rebuilt today, and will be put back together tommorow. However, my mechanic says I should be getting 380-400 fwhp with what i have. people on the stangnet forums seem to agree with that as well, so I think its a safe bet.
needless to say, the car is in perfect shape now mechanically, but exterior wise, well.... lets just say you will see it on sunday. =)

p.s- the lifters were stuck in the open position??? =P

I'm with matm- although I'd say more like 300 to the ground; but with the stock intake, even extrude honed, 400 at the crank is still pretty optimistic. Maybe 350fwhp, but it'd have to be running like a friggin top.

I agree 100%. Even a ported/extrude honed intake will cause a severe restriction on that set up!!!

I've never heard of injectors on a Mustang being measured in cc's. I thought that was a diesel and import thing. Any idea what that would be in lb/hr?
