The SN65 project car

I drove a 67 Fastback for 6 years, let me tell you the driver's side blindspot on it was not nearly as bad as it is on my 2005! the problem with the 2005 is the headrest. When you check over your left shoulder you lean your head to the right and cannot see. If you lean your head towards the door (counterintuitive) you cannot see out of the glass due to the thick C-pillars.

Hi All,

Into the booth we go.

Wayne finished the blocking of the quarters, roof, etc...

Here are some photos of the car in the booth after it was primed.

Now we will mount the doors, fenders, trunk, hood, front end, etc... and go through the same priming and blocking procedure.

Catch ya'll l8r.

Stoopid question from someone who obviously doesn't know squat about auto-body and paint...do you plan paint with those parts attached? I always thought they were bolted on afterwards.

If you first trim all your parts in (inside edges and such) then you can paint with all parts on the car. Some decide to paint with all parts attached to use the same batch of paint and no chance of having a different mix of paint go on the car or it's separate pieces like you have with the vehicle manufacturers who paints the car in pieces.

Hi S2M,

Sounds like you have done this before. :D

We are most likely going to paint all the jambs assemble the doors, trunk, hood and fenders. paint that (all other misc parts will be painted at the same time off the car). Dissasemble everything and then clear it all.

He actually seems like he knows what he is doing. Nothing like watching American Hot Rod where Boob Coddington and his idiots jerry rig a car and sell it for $90,000.

I'd be proud to own this
Hi 98,

:rlaugh:

As far as knowing what I am doing, I have said it before, I only know enough to get myself in trouble. Wayne is the one who makes sure that the project is being built correctly.

We aren't doing anything that you could not do with time and the proper equipment.

Been around it all of my life is more like it. 98CobraClone (my younger brother) and I have been around cars our whole live's. Our Grandpa was a bodyman and still is at 74 years old. Dad's always played with Mustangs and the last big family project was painting our older brother's 77 Ghia. And now that 98CobraClone is tearing his 78 Cobra apart, I'm having to coach him through a few things, even though I'd much rather be doing them myself, or at least helping him out alot more than I can from the Mid-South.
So with that said if you ever make it to Southern Ohio (Cincy area) or to the Memphis area, you've got a couple places to stop and talk Mustangs anytime.

eBay items

SN65,
I take it from your name being Bob and the ebay user name being I_AM_NOT_BOB that you aren't running that account. Just wondering when someone is going to contact me about the parts I bought and paid for... Let me know. Car looks amazing, by the way! :nice:

Thanks,
Scott

Hi Scott,

I just checked with the shop foreman and he says that all the parts from the auction have been shipped....

Not wanting to take any chances, I just checked the log book and your control arms and springs are on their way.

Hi All,

The 4th of July weekend was pretty much a bust, at least as far as the car goes.

While all of you were busy with barbeques, picnics, parties, family, friends and of course fireworks, I was up in Wisconsin opening up the summer cottage. For those who have never done such a thing, it is often rather eventful. You never know quite what to expect. Past experience has taught me to be prepared anything. For example, I have had to deal with frozen plumbing, trees falling on the driveway and the house, malfunctioning yard equipment, shattered toilets, renegade mice, carpenter ants, wild turkeys, deer, bear and bats.

So… While you were all having a wonderful time I was fixing this year’s problem, namely pier crushed by ice. All I had to do was lift the wet end of the pier a scant 5 feet and slide the pier supports back into place. An easy task if you have any type of jack, which of course, I was sorely lacking. To make a long story short, I finally elevated the pier using tactics that the ancient Egyptians would have been proud of.

We are moving along nicely at this point, but nothing worthy of a photo. After all, how many photos can you show of sanded primer? Also, as we get closer to the completion, we have decided to only show detail shots. We are going to save the long overall shots for the big finish later this month.

With that said, I am off to work. Tomorrow, I will post some detail photos of the velocity tube installation.

Catch ya’ll l8r.
