Please don't take too much offense from the negative comments you might get over on 3.8. There are a LOT of immature little kids over there that refuse to grow up. I would say the vast majority, myself included, absolutely love the idea and how you have progressed creating the car. Very nice.

It really takes a lot to get me going. I did go off the deep end a bit, and for that I blame the alcohol.

I read that almost 70% of V6 sales go to females and males under 21. Looks like the attitudes of 'some' on those posting on the 3.8 forums backs that up in spades.

Yeah, the original bad poster was 22 and the one that defended, then hated was 20. Internet board tough guys I guess.

I like how the original guy thought it was cool to make something with your own hands, probably the only thing he ever did with his hands was make a mess.

Yeah, that's cool when guys totally make a car from scratch that's magazine quality, but how many guys can do that? Not too many cars of this type have been done before and I think it's just as tough if not tougher to make it look like it came that way not being a total fabrication shop. Most of these guys don't realize body shops aren't all set up like Boyd's shop. Beyond a frame machine, welders and a paint booth, most body shops around here don't have anything else in the way of tools that aren't hand tools.

Some of those guys have only been registered for one or two years, yet already have over 5,000 posts and one guy has over 10,000! Kind of lets you know how much time they actually spend on their cars. Sounds like a board of image obsorbed kids with little life experience.

On the other hand, this board appears to have a lot of members who (myself included) visit from shops they own or manage, have wives and children, are more hands on, learning from hard work and experience, and haven't fallen victim to the culture of instant gratification. The world experience and maturity prevelant here is what makes this site such a valuable resource.

Of course the way our members self police the site and the tendency to not tolerate the namecalling peppered through the thread you linked ensures that people will want to return.

EDIT: Blah, blah, blah.......

i dont see a problem with the 3.8 forum. what a loser, i see he was banned. good thing too. 4000 posts and he didnt know better? forums dont need people like that running around anyway.

the car is killer!!!! you guys are killing me here. i cant wait for it to be done, maybe even more than you!!! we know the end is near. are you still going to have that completion party you talked about a while back? its just too bad old man winter decided to show up before SN65 was finished.

Bob I noticed on the site you said you had to wash off the liquid mask. In getting ready to start painting my car ive looked at using this to keep some paint off of certain things i dont want green. namely the engine..

I sell 3M products where I work and we have a similar product but none of the body shops I sell to use this. I live in the fix it fast, rebuild wreck capital of the world. They dont worry about detail work. Its been so hard finding someone to do a quality job so ive decided to to it myself. How do you like these liquid masks? Its obvious your a believer to use it on such a product.. but is there anything special about it that maybe i dont know. Other than spray it on. paint and then spray the mask off??

Hi CD,

This is my first exposure to the product. Wayne has used it in the past. He must like the product, because he decided to use it on this project. All I can say is that I am very impressed. Not only did it protect the engine from any overspray, but it also attached itself to any dust present. All you have to do is wash it off.

Precausions... We don't think it is a good idea to run the engine with the mask on. It may bake onto the hot surfaces and leave a stain or not wash completely off.

Yeah Bob (referencing an earlier post up on this page by Cougar 68) how did you guys get that line in above the windows? It looks like modern cars that don't have drip rails, so the water doesn't run down the side. Not having a fastback doesn't help me, but if you could take a pic of your stock fastback from a similar angle, we could reference.
