I heard that the Stig is a WTCC driver I forgot his name. On a particular dutch car TV show he was interviewed (with helmet on) and he talked. I believe for this particular episode Ferrari loaned Michael Schumacher who happens to have had the most testing on the FXX or definitely the most input.

Neat episode nevertheless.

yeah, not really stig.

its been said that the stig is multiple drivers, which i definitely see being possible.

they said if the stigs identity was ever exposed by a cast member or himself, that he would be fired.

Can you imagine being the star in a reasonably priced car that got coached by Michael Schumacher?

What the hell is a "Stig", and why do you need to go to a Greek website to find out what it is?

GTRX has a point, Top Gear is by the far the best car show ever.

It was his FXX, which is why they let him rip it around their track.

I agree with the multiple stig theory. Top Gear would never give away his true identity, it would ruin the show IMO.

Sorry dude, I've seen random clips on the internet, (the one where they raced buses was AWESOME), but no, I never actually watched the show.

Everyone should watch Top Gear. They have a very no BS approach to testing cars and their challenges are usually hillarious. They have had multiple people as the Stig. I think 2 different drivers leaked their identity as the Stig and were promtly fired and replaced.

Is this the same Top Gear that features the no-talent Brits that do nothing but belittle anything American? I can't watch more than a minute or two before I start feeling ill.
Ford could build a 500 hp car with a hybrid engine getting 100+ miles per gallon, the exterior could be beautiful, the ride perfect, and an interior like heaven (made from the softest baby seal skins), and they would still find a reason to hate it. Sounds like quality TV time to me...

I do have to agree with Retired General they are a bit too biased against American cars. I'm not saying the Mustang is perfect which is far from it but come on some of the reviews are downright insulting. I used to like the format back when Tiff Nedell and Quentin Wilson (read eons ago) were doing the reviewing. They were honest, Nedell was a demon at the wheel and Jeremy Clarkson's ego hadn't outgrown the size of his head just yet. Just looking at the non UK top gears i.e. Australian Top Gear etc. you can see what I mean.

I don't agree. Jeremy Clarkson own a Ford GT, he loves them as he states in various tests and challenges with them, he also gave the new Fiesta excellent marks and that was an awesome test too. Richard Hammond owns a 68 Mustang and tested the S-197's when they came out and loves them too so they're not totally Anti American they're just comparing to cars that Motor Trend and Car and driver don't have the balls to drive 1/4 as aggressive as the Top Gear crew does.

I kinda agree agree to that there are or atleast have been multiple Stigs but still it was kinda cool.

Most of the Anti-American jokes are just that... jokes. As the poster above said, Clarkson owns a Ford GT, actually two of them, Hammond has a 68, and their review of the new Vette, Challenger, and CTS was great.

Did you see the way they butchered the SVT Lightning a few years ago?

Well it didn't help that a custom shop over there converted it to right hand drive when Ford never made a right hand drive Lightning. That truck was butchered and deserved how they talked about it. Would have been a different story with a factory Lightning.

I don't remember whether it was right or left-hand drive. I could almost swear it was a left-hand drive one, but it was just too long ago. Not to mention, I don't really care for trucks, so I didn't really give it much attention.

I also have issues with how they conduct some tests. The Mustang episode where they try the V6 Auto Convertible (they use it as a baseline), they set the whole episode up to badmouth the car. First the ridiculous comparison between the Mustang car vs the actual horse, second their constant use of convertibles in handling tests. Everyone knows convertibles are not as rigid as their hardtop counterparts (especially for our cars) first the V6 auto then the GT500. Finally when they finally tried a Mustang that could handle, a Roush Stage 3 they stacked it "against the best Europe had to offer" which was a Lotus Motorsport Elise in a super tight twisty track. Of course the english go-kart was going to win! Try that at Monza or even in their own turf at Silverstone, Oulton Park, or even the Top Gear Test Track, and things would have gone very differently.

I'm sorry to see that from its original inception the show moved too far off from fact to opinion. That should be the footnote to any review not the whole review.

They actually had nothing but good things to say about the Ford GT and the Z06 Corvette when they tested it. Lets be honest....almost every other performance car built by America couldn't hold a candle to most of the European thoroughbreds tested on that show. And rightfully so for what most of them cost.

I think it’s more a case of America’s inability to accept being made the butt of a joke that’s got most haters worked up. They’re used being the ones doing the making fun of in most cases and really don’t do well when the shoe is on the other foot.

In any case, if you want to really hate on them, google the show where they test the 2nd Gen Ford Lightning Pick-up. I thought Jeremy Clarkson was going to be assasinated after some of the comments in that episode.

I guess...but let’s call a spade a spade here. There's nothing overly special about the Lightning beyond a few body enhancements and a hard hitting supercharged power train. The rest of the truck is basically the same low tech so so quality '96-'04 F150 it always was. They really didn't say anything about it that wasn't true? Why do you think Ford took such a huge step forward when the new F150's hit the streets a few years back?
