I don't take their tests seriously. How can you take anything seriously that comes out of the mouths of those ugly, unkempt, Brits? Look at the way they dress! Sorry, but I'm not going to listen to someone that dresses like those fools, or looks like them. They look like 3 drunks.
People listened to Bush for 8-years and he doesn't look any more kept, or well dressed than those guys.....and he really was a drunk.
Seriously though...their dry humor aside, Top Gear is probably the best automotive program going to date. I personally think their humor is much smarter and genuinely funny compared to the crap we’re fed here on North American television. Not to mention they always look like they’re having such a blast doing it. In any case, love or hate the shows hosts….watching them strap into those super cars and drive them within an inch of their mechanical lives is what dreams are made of.
It goes beyond them giving American cars a hard time. The constant berating of Americans in general makes me almost hope Washington picks the UK for our next nuke test.
The last time I accidentally stumbled onto Top Gear, one of the guys was talking about a Porsche (I think the 928) and he said something along the lines of "the switches are designed for someone with fat fingers, which is probably why is sold so well in America."
I've got an idea. Let's put some of the worst American cars against the best the UK has to offer... wait, do the brits even have their own car company? Should we be listening to the opinions of cars from people in a country that doesn't even have it's own car company? (or do they?) Hell, if that's the case, I've got some opinions on stuff that I know nothing about... I'll make a show about that!
And FWIW, it isn't like Americans don't make fun of everybody else that isn't American. We hate everybody. We think we're superior to everybody. Americans are like the French. We just hate everybody that isn't us.
Schumacher was the "Stig" for that episode, since it was his FXX (parting gift from Ferrari when he left F1, rough gig)...
That said, the "Stig" has been rumoroed to be several drivers. I think they named Ben Collins as one of them (I believe he's a DTM driver), and there have been other's rumored as well, counting ex/present F1 drivers, etc.
I doubt the BBC would ever reveal the actual Stig(s), because it's such an integral part of the show (from the "mystery" standpoint).
As for the show itseld, Clarkson is a cnt. He can't do anything with an American car, or talk about America without some sort of slant/insult.
Here's a hint, if you don't like us, or our cars, stay the hell out.
The only reason I watch it, is because of the actual cars on the show. It's not too often you get to see that level of hardware being thrashed around.
Fifth Gear is much better in my opinion. Tiff Needle is a hell of a driver (an *actual* race driver, not some giant-meloned English t**t). He's truly passionate about cars, versus Clarkson's prejudice of anything "American".
If you can ignore him, the show's not bad at all. They tend to come up with some crazy crap quite often.
Well.....at least you can admit it. Recognizing your short comings is the first step in correcting them I supose.
Is this the same Top Gear that features the no-talent Brits that do nothing but belittle anything American? I can't watch more than a minute or two before I start feeling ill.
Ford could build a 500 hp car with a hybrid engine getting 100+ miles per gallon, the exterior could be beautiful, the ride perfect, and an interior like heaven (made from the softest baby seal skins), and they would still find a reason to hate it. Sounds like quality TV time to me...
American's are critical of other countries because we get berrated by them on a daily basis. When have you EVER seen an entire city in the USA join in a rally downtown to burn another countries flag in open protest? Well, talk to Iran, Iraq, Jordan, North Korea, France, Germany, Venezuela, Ecuador, Japan.... the list goes on and on. Hell, I think we are WAY too liberal for our own good. We shouldn't just sit back and accept that other are currently engaged in how to KILL as many American's as possible, other countries don't think like we do.
