So I decided to try one last time on the MSD Atomic... I ordered a new IAC... from MSD-Holley themselves. No Chinese knock-offs or counterfeits and no chances of a mis-boxed visually identical but wired differently Chrysler IAC.

Guess what?

Same damned result. IAC count zero, idling at 1600rpm. Pulled the control module from the side and checked all the wiring, everything looks good. Called MSD-Holley's tech line, and got hung up on twice without even getting a chance to say a word.

That's the kind of great customer service that'll have me running Megasquirt or any other damned thing NOT made by Holley or MSD on the 4.6. I've been a loyal MSD and Holley customer for twenty years. I'm done at this point.

They have a review page right?
Some even have a help forum too.
Even if you toss the thing in the trash I would make it known more about the customer service than the product being crap.

No idea, but I'm up to four times now because I'm wanting to ask one of their "experts" if they have a rebuild service for this pile of junk like they used (and for all I know still do) to for the MSD 6AL boxes, and the hold music stops, I say "hello" after a few seconds of silence, and then the call disconnects. Whole reason I brought the car back to the shop from lunch on a 96 degree day was to get the IAC changed so that I'd be able to sell this damned EFI system as a working unit.

I take delivery of the 4.6 4V tomorrow. (There WILL be pics!) I'll keep it at the shop at work and piddle with it when things are slow. All of my best tools are there anyway, so that'll make gettting it ready for ElSuperPinto's upcoming heart transplant easier.

I need to figure out how I'm going to stop ElSuperPinto without a vacuum booster, because I seriously doubt there will be room for one behind the 4.6, and I don't see one on any of the other three IIs running modular engines, or any of the big-block cars for that matter. Brake upgrades were already in the future, but the pending swap to a tiny engine of massive external proportions means at least the master cylinder will need attention sooner rather than later. When I pull the 308, I'll tear it down and rebuild and repaint it before I sell it. Somebody will want it for their old Ford.

As cheap and adaptable as Megasquirt is, and as cheap as take-off 96-98 Cobra parts and late-model Aviator parts are, I just might go EFI with this thing yet, it'll make it easier to turbocharge or supercharge.

The fact you have changed out the IAC so many times and still have an issue makes me want to think there is some other problem causing the iac not to work properly. Those MSD units are known for having issues, but its still just a bunch of parts/wires/programming that needs to work together for a unit to function. I would keep trying Holley and put the question up on their forum and see if you can get help there on it. At least, like you said, you can sell it as a functioning unit.

It would be dumb not to go EFI. You already know this so I'll move on. LoL

5L5 is doing a hydro-boost swap to his Fox. Have you seen it?

By process of elimination, I'm 99% sure the control module or power module is failing. They're both about 35% of the cost of a whole new system, so I'm not wanting to guess and be wrong on something that'll probably fetch all of $500 on Ebay as a working system. Hell, if either is the case, I'm better off just listing it as-is for $300 or so.

Getting the entire wiring harness with it has swayed my opinion in that direction. He forgot to bring the timing cover to work today, but that appears to be all that is missing. MS is looking more and more like my next move.

As far as hydroboost, I don't think I even have that much room, plus, who wants to run a power steering pump just for brakes?
