Just bought a 1993 5.0 lx. Body is in great shape light blue or teal I guess. Started to overheat yesterday when my son was out driving[18years old].Tell him to park it and I drive to where hes at. Find a hose with a hole in it .Small hose "l" shaped from themostat to water pump heater hose I guess. On to Pep boys. Get hose put hose on in the dark with flashlight assistence. Car still overheating steam clouds and lots of anti freeze. Remove new hose this morning turns out the nipple it is on has hole right at the spot where it meets the thermostat cover. Now it gets fun.Anybody who has removed one of these thermostat bodies knows what I mean. It is very close working in there.wrench under ac unit rachet wrench jams on waterpump .Get it off .On tio pep boys. All they have is POS chrome one.Nochoice we buy it .Blue silicon on the therm body to hold the new thermostat in place .I could not think of any other way that this could be installed.Replace those bolts just as hard as removing them.Tighten them down hoses back on anti freeze reinstalled. Turn the car on and I got to tell you I was shocked no leaks. Anti freeze $30,therm body $10, hose $7 My son telling me he is glad that im his dad priceless.

Ya that housing is a pain. I cracked my stock one, then got a new one for Napa. Then mine kept leaking on me when I was putting my motor in so I just said to hell with it and siliconed that thing all over, no leaks now

Yeah...I hear ya. I was able to use just the right sized extension on my ratchet to get it to fit just nicely. Didn't have much trouble with it.

That little hose was a real PITA though. I've had to take mine all off about 3 times in the past month and tore that little hose up pretty good. Doesn't leak though.
