Finally got the old thermostat housing off and the old bolts removed. Dremel is a great tool. I have a new housing and thermostat and bolts. I really hate PO's who don't know what they are doing. PO put a 180 thermostat in and the sealant used on the gasket was gooped on the bolts. So, a couple of questions. First, I have heard of sealant being used on the gasket (very little, of course), what is the exact sealant(brand and type) I need and which side should I of the gasket should I put on. Second, I have heard of people drilling a small hole in the top of the thermostat to help with burping the system since we all know air bubbles wreak havoc with the temp gauge, is this something normal, or an old wives tail? If it is recommended, what size hole do I drill?
