Does anybody know what the name of the thing the TFI module plugs into in the distributor is called? It's curved, and in my case it is beige. Also, does anybody know what kind of symptoms would occur if this piece went bad? I have a vehicle that usually won't start, and when it does it barely runs, and won't accelerate. I've done a whole bunch of stuff to it and the only thing that helped is one time when I wiggled the TFI. I replaced the TFI and I still have the same problem. Any ideas?

PIP. Get a new dizzy, it's easier than replacing the PIP. And while certainly not the only reason that would cause what your experiancing, it IS one of the leading ones. Did you try and dump codes from EEC to see what codes your getting?

Hey 1987stangman. Thanks for the quick reply. I've pulled the codes and all I get is codes for the TPS and EGR. I've already replaced the TPS so I don't understand why I'm still getting the code. As far as the EGR, I don't think a bad EGR would prevent the vehicle from running, would it. Like I said though, the only thing that has helped was the one time when I wiggled the TFI. I replaced the TFI though and that didn't help. I figure it almost has to be the pip. Is it possible to test the pip. Thanks.

Perhaps easier...but also way more expensive.

Just get a loaner 3-prong puller from autozone along with the new pip/stator. Knock out the 2 roll pins in the gear and sleeve with a punch. Take the 3-prong puller and pull the gear off...the sleeve should be fairly loose and slide off. Everything else that you have to remove is from the topside. The hardest thing is how to align the hole in the gear with the shaft. The nice thing is though....with the 3-prong puller it doesnt matter as much. If your off, just pull the gear and try it agian.
