i have trick flow twisted wedge heads, and i bought some proform stud mount rockers. well i turned the motor to TDC on #1 cylinder and bolted on the first rocker and it seemed ok, i centered it up snugged it down and went another 3/4 turn and locked it. then looked down at the roller and its sitting pretty close the exhaust side of the valve stem.

is this ok? or should it be centered at TDC?

Trick flow heads use pushrods with non-standard lengths. You end up getting a adjustable pushrod and then gauging the proper length from that. See http://www.trickflow.com/product/twisted_wedge/info_pages/twiswedge_inst_frame.htm for complete installation instructions. The instructions explain the pushrod length problems and how to do it right.

i have the trickflow 6.750 pushrods. seem like when i take the pushrod out and set the rocker down and lift it up just slightly it centers on the valve, but when i put the pushrod back in its way off.
i think i need shorter pushrods.

yeah, you need to measure for the correct length. typically you want the rocker tip to start on the closer half of the valve tip and than as it is pushed down it should roll across the tip away from the rocker and than back as it comes back up. you can check it by coloring the tip of the valve with a sharpie and than turning the motor over with the rockers installed properly. you are shooting for the middle third of the valve tip to have the sharpie rubbed off.

now according to the picture you do need shorter pushrods as that will lower the height of you rocker which will pull the tip back closer to the backside of the valve...if that makes any sense

makes perfect sense, in fact i just got done measuring.
i need 6.500 pushrods. the pattern isnt quite in the middle, its a little closer to the exhaust side but its the best i can do because if i go any shorter the rocker will be bottoming out on the stud and i wont have any preload adjustment.

heres what the pattern looked like after a few revolutions. kinda towards the bottom but im going to have to live with it. or get different rockers?

thats not a bad pattern. as long as the rocker isnt going too far one way or the other and the rocker body doesnt make contact with the retainer or anything than you should be good to go

It appears the pushrod is a tad to long, the pattern like you posted on the valve tip should not be any larger then .080". Mark the valve tip with a sharpy, adjust the rocker and turn the motor over.

the rocker should roll across the tip, make sure it does slide, and it should move towards the exh then towards the intake.

I personally do not trust those Proform Rockers, many have broken....
