I have a set of non PI heads. I am going to port match the intake port to a PI gasket and fully port the exhaust. I am going to add PI cams and PI exhaust valves and going to put the PI intake on my car. Do you think this will work. I am estimating it will help me put down about 250hp at the wheels or better. your opinions will help me make my decision a little easier.
Thanks

i was planning on this but you cant. first off the PI intake gasket will not cover the NPI coolant port (ours is larger) and ours is so much larger that the intake port on that side wouldnt be able to be opened up very much at all. so youd actually have 6 aligned ports, and 2 misaligned ports.

on top of this the shape is COMPLETELY different so you would have to totally change it. There is also a little spot in one of the corners that shoots out further then the rest of the port and comes back in. You would have to totally redisign it to fit by hand with a dremel or something im guessing. Do you even have any clue how much work that would be? on top of that you would not get 250hp by any means. Sometimes PI headswapped cars that have increased compression and have been tuned do not reach that point. So how do you think you would reach it just by trying to custom fit the intake on your heads and throwing in the PI cams? If your going as far as adding all that stuff including the new exhaust valves why not just buy a set of fully assembled PI heads and throw them on there? You would save yourself the headache of thinking you can actually get everything ported and matched up. I got my heads fully assembled only slightly used shipped for $350. Just look around and you can find some good deals.

250rwhp is easily attained with NPI heads. i should be floating around 245rwhp right now. ill find out for sure when i gets off jackstands though.

300rwhp has already been surpasssed in a n/a NPI car. through an auto tranny and IRS.

Cams

Hi, I bought a set of PI heads this year, and ended up putting a set of comp cams in them. The heads were brand new, and I pulled the cams out, so if you're looking for some cams you could make me an offer. Also, if you need any info on the headswap/anything of that nature, feel free to PM me.

I knew it was possible. I might just buy the kit from livernois and have my NPI heads ported and polished to the max and port match the the intake spacer. Also just remeber nothing is impossible. what about the valves and valves springs. are the frpp shorty headers any good because I am going to get a set of those too.

Why waste all that money on those adaptors.......that's a nice chuck of money that can be put toward a set of PI Heads.......just do the swap and be done with it.........your still going to have the restriction of the exhaust ports.......it's alot of time and money that really seems to me to be a waste........you won't be disappointed in the gain by going all the way.....been there, done that.......

I am getting the non PI heads port and polished to the max so there won't be much restriction. I don't want to do a PI head swap because me and some of my friends have a bet that It is impossible to run low 13's with non PI heads and no power adder.
