Currently I have a 1965 Fastback with original 289 motor that was rebuilt 1700 miles ago. The previous owner told me that it was rebuilt to original spec. I'm looking to swap out the new original style 2 barrel carb and intake manifold and go with a 4 barrel set-up. I was looking to go with the Edelbrock performer intake with a Edelbrock 600cfm carb. At this point I don't want to swap out the heads or the cam, but i might in the future. So my question is do I just do the performer intake and 600cfm carb, or will that be to mild if I do decide to swap the cam and/or heads at a later point? I also plain on getting TRI-Y headers to replace the stock manifolds. I'm not looking for a ton of power but someday i would like to be around 300 HP.
