Hey All:
I havn't been here in almost 10 months, when I posted a very similar thread to this, and I just need some more info, if you good people don't mind.
This is the deal, right now, I have a 1993 Infiniti G20 with 123,000 miles, now, milage isn't what scares me, I have seen these cars last 300,000 miles+, but I am concerned about the non-nissan built stuff, compressors, door motors, and just general stupid stuff that will be a hassle as I look towards collage in a year, so time to get a newer car. Originally, I was going to stick with an import, 4 banger, great cars, very reliable, last forever, nice looking, when you INVEST money into them. So I was starting to think about a diffrent car. So me and a bunch of other people went on this church thingie, and I got to ride in a 04 6-cyl Mustang Convertable, and I BECAME IN LOVE. (This was yesterday) and I got to drive an 02 today, simply amazing. The feeling of wind in your hair going 70 is amazing, something I have never felt before so I decided I needed one. A closed top Infiniti with a moon roof isn't going to cut it anymore. So, as soon as I got home, I jumped on Auto trader, suprisingly, I can afford a 99+ convertable (come on, this is Texas, Fords out number cows, and there are more cows than people here, not really, but there are a ton of them) So my questions to all of you:
How long have you seen Mustangs last, how many miles?
About how much per year is maintance going to cost, not oil changes and spark plugs, but alternators going out, etc. etc. Milage I'm going to be looking at in my price range is 60-80k.
For those of you who own convertables, do they leak? If so, how bad?
I hear the 99+ 6-cyl's are more powerfull than the 94-98 GT's? Is this true? If not, how can you get your little 6 up to 240 WHP with out a supercharger?
What are common problems to be expected with a Mustang with about 70k on it?
Timing belt or chain, I think it's a belt, and if so, after how many miles does it need to be replaced?
Are these car's easy to work on? I am having MAJOR probs with my G20 right now and a R12 to R134 conversion. Is it like a puzzle, or would a Mustang make Einstein's his hair look even worse? lol
I think that's it, I know I will come up with more questions, but I have not had enough caffine today.
