thinking about getting a 01 V6 5spd

okay so i have my fast car (pictured below) and have been toying with the idea of a GT BUT for like 3 grand less i can get a good 5spd V6 with like 50K on the clock (the whole point is to get rid of the danger ranger that has 123K miles in her).

now im thinking about getting a V6 cause even if i had a GT it wouldn't be the fast car. so how quick are these cars stock? i heard like low 15's which is respectable for the low rung pony car.

so like with basic bolt ons what kind of numbers do these things pull off?

High 13s - low 14s probably. Not for certain.

I know I could time my 6's 1/4 mile with a sundial.

If you already have a fast car, and you know a Mustang GT isn't fast enough, does it matter how fast a V6 is? It's slower than a GT, for sure. I'd go with the GT. Drop a few mods on it and you'll probably be able to outrun that nissan you have. If you plan on modifying your Mustang, even light, easy mods will get better results on a GT.

agreed...gt is the way to go...yes 3 grand more but trust me...three grand well spent..slap some intake and exhaust on a couple other bolt ons with a gt you're in the low 13s even high 12s with rubber...

well i found one for really cheap so i might be able to get a car with 48K miles, decent pickup, and decent mileage with no car payment. the no car payment will allow me to throw more money at my turbo 240.

yep, i've made up my mind for now. looks like im gettin a sixer. wheels/tires/mayeb bullit suspension to make it tolerable on the road and ithink it'll be a nice ride.

here's why im not too concerned about a GT:

Yes and No. It really depends on how heavy your foot is. I get close to 300 miles to the tank.

Ditto. I clock about 280 miles before filling up. I get pretty crummy mpg compared to some folks though. I get about 25 at best but I either drive in the city or 70-80 on an interstate. Some claim to get 30... I'm assuming that's a whole bunch of 50-55mph driving.

well i'll be going from a ranger to a mustang so im sure a i'll get a little better mileage. i'm gonna hafta get some decent wheels and the bullit suspension package at least, though. the stock running gear is pretty bad.

the trac lok diff is only like 200 bucks for these cars (compared to the $750 HLSD in my 240) so i might as well throw that in as well.

i might have to ask this in tech but if i didn't change my ring and pinion gears would it just be a matter of putting the axle back together with the trac-lok replacing the OEM open diff?

its just a daily but i can't stand peg leg burnouts should the need arise for one

2700lbs + 300-350rwhp = a GT would need more than a few mods to keep up

I'll agree that the newer 05+ Mustangs are getting fat & heavy, but the older ones aren't too bad. What's your 1/4 mile time in the nissan? With a 99-04 GT, and a few thousand $ in mods, you're easily well into the 12's.

im working out some weird bug in my system at the moment but i'm going to hit 13 flat or high 12's no matter how much boost it takes. its built more for road race, though. if/when the current engine pops i have plans to throw an LS1 in the old girl.

basically, for a mustang to do what my car is capable of it would need a whooooooooole lot more than im willing to put into it. a 5spd V6 has sufficient grunt to put a ricer in his place, so im cool with that.

if i got this V6 stang i'd prolly just throw some 03 cobra wheels on it and a bullit suspension kit (if it really helps handing a lot, i mean). just to make it not seem like such a pig in in the turns.

No... My 02 GT consistently gets the same if not better mileage than my mom's V6 and I don't just drive it cautiously.

I'm not entirely sure on the price difference, but I'm going to through this out there: look into some ford c springs ( 650 front / 200 rear linear) or Eibach pro kit (630 front / 295 rear progressive) and some sort of adjustable shock. Might be close in price to bullit stuff. I don't think either spring will drop the car beyond the stock c/c plate's adjustment range.

I personally like the ride of a progressive spring over a linear spring so I just threw both out there. I love bilstein sport shocks, but those are a tad pricey.

well seeing as how my ranger could romp off the line and the average civic owner look stupid (up till aerodynamics and hp took over). anyways, unless i find a GT that has so little mileage within maybe 3 grand of the price im gonna have to go with the V6.

That is the most hilarious visual. If I saw a ranger and a civic racing off the line, I would prolly wreck my Mustang from laughing so hard. That is just too silly!

On the topic of Civics, there's one outside that has donuts on all corners, missing the rear bumper and has a really nice faded paint job, but it has projectors and exhaust. However, it kept dying as he was leaving the parking lot. Good stuff.

some people feel the same way about people racing V6 mustangs

i was coming home from school and showed some *** ricer what torque looks like.

if i got a V6 i'd probably just throw wheels and a bullitt suspension under it to make it livable in the day to day.
