I am thinking about getting rid of my 17" chrome Cobra R's with BFG KDW tires for a set of 18" chrome FR500's with BFG KDW tires. I just saw a Cobra with them & they look sooooooo good. Should I do it? Is it true my car will be a bit slower with 18" wheels?

Yes it will be slower. amount varies.
My buddies chrome 18" fr500's with a 265 weight more than my 17x10.5's with 315's on them.

but isnt like...275/45/17's the same in diameter as 275/35/18's, because of the 45 to the 35..? or close? so it shouldnt be much slower

It isn't the diameter so much as it is the extra weight of the larger wheel. Diameter (overall) only comes into play when you're talking about throwing off your speedometer.

Any extra weight on rotating mass will definitely be noticeable. In that small of an increase, certainly nothing horrendous, unlike moving from 14" wheels on a Civic to 18".

I am seriously considering it. It may not be for another month or two, but I was going to try to sell locally to a couple of people I know for a "not-very-desperate" price. I'd like to avoid shipping.

I'll PM anyone interested on this thread if that doesn't work out, but again, it may not be for another couple of months.
