does this piece cover the fuse panel??? it is extended on the left side more than the piece I have but I have seen them before and they make the dash pieces in that area go together easier. anyone of any pictures of there dash under the steering column that I could reference from??

3 bottem bolts to the dash frame, upper bolts to the lower side of the cluster.... it won;t fit an 89 below dash.

That is the knee pad and metal bracing for it from a 90-93 dash. The fuse panel is relocated to under the dash in those cars. I replaced my 87 dash with a 90 dash and just used the plastic cover, not the metal part, so I could install my fuse panel in the stock 87 location. I just pop the plastic panel off to check the fuses. It is held in place by the three push in clips. Here is a pic of my fuse box:

Yeah, it's part of the 90-93 dash

I installed a 90-93 black dash in my '88...but i didn't use this particular metal peice. I only used the exterior plastic cover for it.

Then you need an entire 90-93 dash, center console and HVAC controls.

I'm not even entirely sure that metal peice bolts up to the 87-89 dash frame. If not, you would need to swap the dash frame as well.

Why do you want that particular peice for??

Like mentioned that metal back plate will not fit an 87-89 dash without some hacking. It would bolt to the spot where the 87-89 fuse panel is so that would have to be moved for one and even then I'm not sure about it fitting physically.

Why the fascination with just that piece?

for some reason when I did my swap from 4cyl those pieces don't want to go back in. it was all taken apart anyways when I got it. But it look ssimple enough to put back together but one piece especially doesn't fit at all and it just broke a tab off. it looks like a half circle and it is ribbed, and has tabs to fit into the lower dash with screws on either side

I was told it's on the air bag cars to keep you from sliding under the air bag in a crash. I guess you smash your knees into it but you stay in your seat.
