I am looking into buying a 97 Mustang GT as a project/summer car. The one I am looking at has been sitting undriven for 2 years. It was in great mechanical shape before it was taken off the road. What kind of work would it take to get it running again? I was thinking I would have to at least flush all systems and change all fluids and filters. Obviously change out the gas and add some injector cleaner. Would I have to change plugs and plug wires and maybe brake pads too? Also, it has an issue with draining the battery. It could be the alarm system or maybe the sound system...how hard would this be to diagnose and fix? I could get a good deal on it but it would need some work to get it up and running again. Basically I am wondering if it is worth it to buy if it has been sitting that long. What do you think? Thanks in advance to any replies/advice and hopefully I will own a Mustang soon!

a good mobile mechanic could figure the electrical out for you quick (worked for my friend only cost him $40) dont use over the counter injector cleaner it will make your car run like crap for a while and they dont really work that well remove the injectors and take them to a shop and have them cleaned and flow tested to make shured they move the amount of fuel they are supposed to and sitting that long they could be siezed and that botteled junk wont help that it will run you about $50-$100. if your looking for power do a PI swap right away

Sorry if this should be in the "talk" forum instead of here...I wasnt sure where to put it. Go ahead and move the thread if it should be in there instead. Anyway, thanks for the advice so far. Hopefully, after I buy it, I will be able to revive the stang and put it back on the road where it belongs :) !
