Thinking of selling the 6 for a gt.

So i was wondering, how much do you think i could sell mine for? Im looking for a 96-98 gt.

Custom dark red 97 mustang.
54K miles
5 speed
True dual flowmasters 40 series
tinted windows
upper and lower intake port and polish
shorty headers
pioneer cd player.
blackouts.
Black bumper inserts.
215/235 cam

Well, I suck at car appraising so I wont waste your time. But, is there a reason you want a 96-98 GT?? I only ask b/c they generally have bad raps for being dogs. If you are just wanting that body style, you would be better off with a 94-95 5.0. But thats just me and I know that was not your question. If I were you, I'd head on over to www.nada.com and www.kbb.com and see what your stang is worth to give you an idea of what to expect from it. I can tell you only having 54K on the clock will be a big plus for you.

Who knows,it all depends on time of year,were you live,and if someone wants it that bad. If i was you i would listen to alblue and get a 5.0 or just get a 99 GT. Im sure you can find a 99 for 9-10k. If i remember right,and dont quote me on this, the 96-98 gts only had 215 hp. With new heads and other mods the 99's are getting 260. Iv heard stories of 99+ v6's almost beating stock 96-98 auto gt's. I would get a 99 hands down .

EDIT:you might also think about the 89-93 gt's with that much money you could guy a decent one and mod it pretty well

Why dont you just put a 302 or 351 in it, I have a 95 that came with a v6 in it, and I swapped it with a 351w and loving it, I also have a 95 GT, and a 97 vert v6, I am in the process of getting a 460 and will put it in my 95, and the 351w will go in the vert, my 95 only had 54k on it, and I bought mines for only 3500, and it was in good condition.

I agree. Although it wasn't your question, I would definitly go with the 94-95 5.0 GT's. Feel free to call on this comment, but my V6 has run VERY well with the 4.6's of that body style. I even got the better of one once, although barely. Another thing to consider before buying a V8 is...gas prices are soaring...are you sure you want to shell out the extra dough? That and insurance made me come to hate my 01 GT when I had it, even though I'd always wanted one. (Although now you couldn't pay me enough to drive a V8.) Just something to think about. If you decide you want to buy one anyway, I'm sure you won't have a hard time finding plenty for sale. There's tons around here people are selling for pretty decent prices. Good luck.

Ah - I'm about to do that to mine! Although I have a 98 v6 right now. We should talk, I'd like to hear what all you did to it =)

On topic - I'm sure you could get that much for it, you just gotta be patient =)

If you put a v8 in it, the insurance company doesnt have to know, and also, I dont see a big difference from the 5.0 and the 3.8 on fuel, both still drink up alot of gas.

The insurance company doesn't 'have' to know, but if you wreck the car and anything happens to the engine, they'll replace it with what it came with stock, or not replace anything period since you never let them know. So if you're gonna put a lot of money into it, it's better to let insurance know so that you're covered in a wreck =)

Um, true, the 3.8 sucks up it's share of gas...but a 5.0 is like having a waterhose that's at full blast for a fuel line. My buddy had a 95 5.0 and I kid you not, once a day minimum it would be at the pumps. The 99+ 4.6 is actually much the same way...I have personal experience with that one. As for not telling the insurance company, Amber is right...you get in a wreck, you'll be lucky to get a 3.8 in there if the ins. company is told there was a V8 and they don't have records for an engine swap. If you're gonna invest that kind of money, protect your investment.

i get 20+mpg with my current set up. i routinely got 22.5mpg 50/50 city/highway before the blower.

Well, I had an Oxford White 01 GT and, if I was easy on the gas pedal, I'd burn up about 1/4 tank on my way to work (about 45 miles). If I decided to romp on it, well, 0-60 about 4 times and it's time for a friggin fill up. IMO, Ford should have put a bigger gas tank on the V8 models to make up for the fuel consumption. Guess you don't need to worry about bettering your product when there's no competition though . Ok, not to sound like a Ford hater, but, I was very much disappointed to learn that the same GT I bought in 01 for $24,500 sticker now sells for $26k sticker....I know that's only a $1,500 difference, but if the Firebird and Camaro were still in production, I don't think they would be trying to get away with that. Sorry if it sounds like I'm blue-oval hating, but, I'm still pi$$ed that, after busting my back and finally getting my dream car at the time (A GT), all I got was an insurance bill for a "muscle car" that was basically nothing more than a rice killer. I know the flames are comin' for this one, but I had to vent a bit.
