check out this website....i thought it was pretty cool. dont know if it actually works well but its a very good idea. dont know how much they are going to be but it seems like an expensive product. it says something about lowering the effective compression ratio so i dont really know how these are going to work, because if you build a motor for say 10:1 compression and than add these plugs it will have 8:1 compression. so youd really have to build the motor for 12:1 CR to get the desired 10:1 CR. and i dont know if they are always venting or if they have a weak spot that blows out when it reaches a certain point. i dont know....check it out

I'd have a hard time believing those will effectively help your C/R... What you measure is static compression ratio, but when an engine operates your C/R is dynamic, and it's much higher than 10:1 at the moment of ignition on your power stroke... How can you effectively and accurately bleed off thousands of psi over a course of several instances several times a second. I don't think anything contained in a spark plug housing could be a). sophisticated enough b). durable enough or c). accurate enough. I think it's a cool idea to regulate the amount of money flowing from your wallet into theres though...

Did nyone actually read the website? They are not designed to be used as a part to lower your CR, static or dynamic. The are made to act as a pressure relief valve. The spark plug will actually fracture and vent pressure to the atmosphere in the event that detonation occurs. You can then easily identify which cylinder(s) are experiencing detonation, and compensate justly, using timing, or fuel adjustments. The plug will be broken, but I am sure it will be cheaper than buying a new piston, and possibly a block or crank.
