But I need to know how to bypass my alternator...

I have a strange noise, and I thought it was my alternator. Changed it and it still does it. Might be the smog pump, but it sounds like its coming from the alternator. The last one I had had a squeak from day one. Which turned into a grinding noise recently. New one does the same thing. Probably be easier to by pass the smog pump. lol

I use a stethoscope to listen to each item. I agree that it can be tough to narrow down though Eric. Often if you just remove the belt you can spin each pulley and hear the noise.

If you dont have a stethoscope use a long screwdriver and put the tip on the alternator and the butt end to your ear. When my smog pump went out it was making grinding sounds so that could be it also. If your motor is cold you can start it without a belt for a few seconds also before it heats up. I once drove my car home a half mile without a belt when my a/c locked up and i had to cut the belt.
