Ok, my friend has a 92 T-bird equipped with a 5.0 with approx. 142k miles and a freshly rebuilt AOD. The car is mechanically sound; no major problems with the engine.

Here's the problem: Everytime he floors it after about 3 seconds the cabin becomes filled with a sulfur-like smell, actually its a very strong sulfur smell. We have no idea where this is coming from and it only happens when the car is floored.

WTF's up?

is this with the windows down? Do you have turn downs on it. If so that's probably your cause.. If you have have tail pipes then I would check for exhaust leaks. all my car's stink with no smog, no cats, and no tailpipes.

The sulfur smell is the aftermath of the the converter's doing their job. It smells a lot like rotten eggs imo lol. The smell is the unburnt gas being converted. When you floor the car it the mixture goes rich, hence the smell. I would look for leaks past the converters. If you don't have converters, its most likely the beans you had for lunch :D .
