By the way, I do have a friend that has a shop, but I wont be able to store the stang in their long. A 4v motor swap would take me awhile, since school comes first. I will ask my friend if he has any extra space though. How much is a 96-98 4v motor?

there's mark VIII DOHC 4.6's on corral.net for around $6-900.
the 96-98 cobra engines range from 900-2300
I bet you could find a 99/01 4V for around 2600-3500
and there's a mach 1 4V (best NA 4v) engine on corral for $3800

Don't have the slip on me but IF I remeber correctly fastest car has ever gone on the motor was 12.83 @ 106.98MPH and a 1.81 60ft. NItto's are crap, imagine what the run would of been on M/T with a 1.7 60ft.

Ask yourself is it really worth it to go with a '96-'98 GT when you really want a Cobra, then spend a pile of money modifying it? Why not go with the Cobra (the car you wanted in the first place), then roll the scratch you would have put into mods on the GT, into your insurance payment? It seems to me it's going to cost you about the same thing either way?

Full coverage on a Cobra is about the same as my rent. I am only making $700-800 a month from working. I have 4k in the bank and will be getting 3.5k in 4 months. Cobra is just going to cost too much more, and modding will take too long.

I am going to buy the parts for the GT now and get the car in four months. By the time I get all the parts, I will have about 5.5k (3.5k plus what i save) saved up in four months. Then, I will get my ford friend to help me with the installation. I will be able to do all the work at once.

And the reason I am buying the parts first is because if I were to buy the GT first I would have to pay for insurance. The cobra I want is a 99^, and they are 12.5k or more. Spending 9.5k compared to 13k is saving money. Plus if I don't buy the car all at once, I would have to get a loan. That is extra money to spend monthly.

Soo the cobra is out of the question. See, I can buy a 96-98 GT for 5k. That is what I will have saved up, and that is being bought all at once.

I like the 96-98 Gt body. I like the 99 and up cobras. The Cobra is what I will buy and do a complete build with a super charger and have like 600hp. The GT is just going to have 280hp. See what I am talking about.

hmm, 12.83's from intake, exhaust (shorties at that), and suspension on nitto's. If you did then that's f'n awesome

As for the OP, PI'd 96-98 would be awesome. Maybe think about a 94/95 route. Same body style and you can get a really fast NA car out of that 5.0 for not too many bones

Yeah I know it's hard to believe. I think I got a freak. It's won me a couple street races against unsuspecting LS1's and the like.

Charles, I also agree that if it's the SN95 body that you want your better option might be to go with the 94-95. The motors make the same amount of power stock but the 5.0 with it's vast array of parts is dirt cheap to mod. It says in your sig you've had a couple fox bodies so you should know the motor pretty well. Really the only big differences on the motor is the intake elbow, and the ECU software. So either get it tuned when your done or throw a fox body ECU in it. OR go the 4.6 route. Just consider your options. Either way I'm glad your getting a stang.:SNSign: :SNSign:

Damn! That's impressive. You are one hell of a driver, gives me more of a reason to start working on my suspension even though I probably won't touch 12's being I have a slowmatic.

Once I purchased the 2000GT I never wanted a 5.0 again. Nothing wrong with the 5.0s. I just love the 4.6s end of story.

When I started to want another mustang, I thought about a 5.0, but that was only a day or two. I have been wanting another mustang since December 07.

*EDIT*

Why doesn't my posts go up?

If by "posts" you mean post count, it only increases when you post in Technical Forums.

Thank you. Like I said I think I have a factory freak. But driving the car everyday for 4 years does not hurt. In your case suspension will help, but a good tire with a stall and the right gear will get you far on an automatic. What are your mods and times? Sexy fobra by the way.

I think he means let it be since neither of us have proof showing the other wrong. Don't think any offense was implied
