this sucks! not Stang related.

the engine on my '99 Dakota just blew over Christmas weekend. rod went straight through the engine block. i have to replace the entire engine. :bang:

i owe $7500 on the truck still and its $6500 to get a new engine dropped in at the dealership.

suggestions? have it fixed? junk it? part it?

i know it has nothing to do with Mustangs but i have nothing to complain about with my '95 GT at the moment. its tucked in for the winter.

Holy cow.......your 99 Dakota threw a rod??? Crazy....sorry to hear. Well since you still owe money on it, I might suggest getting a new engine, especially if the rest of the truck is really good. Tough position/situation....I'm sure you'll figure out the best route.

that sucks dude, do you have a warranty? If I were you, I'd pull the cylinder head off the bank with the bent rod to see if the heads are re-useable, if it looks like it was sandblasted with a rough media, I guess it's a fuel situation, I.E. pump relay, pump, filter, injector, regulator. I dunno though, just shootin out idears. that hella sucks man, maybe you spun a bearing and the rod grabbed the crank, bent, then smacked the block. if hte head is good, I'd say just get a new shortblock. good luck dude!

Well i found a guy in Tacoma (where the truck died) that'll replace the engine for $2k (including the engine).

its good to call around, they really screw you over at the dealership!!

well the Stang isn't totally tucked away, i have it out and about today. but its going back in tomorrow when the rain comes. i just picked up a used '99 Grand Cherokee Limited as my commuter.
