Hey guys, i have recently turned my attention to Tim's Mongoose V2 kit and am interested in a few things. How good is the mail-order tune that comes with the kit? Also, what kind of numbers are you guys seeing with the kit at the stock boost level ( 8 psi ) and with what other supporting mods? Also, it is the non air-cooled kit right? Sorry for all the questions, its just that 4 grand is alot of money for a college student like me It just seems like such a great deal for $3,770.00

Also, how much should i expect to pay for the install of the kit? Stuff like plugs and injectors i can do myself, i just mean the basic S/C unit. Also, any power differences between the SQ and S kits? Or is it just LOUD vs not as loud?

I aprreciate your input in advance guys and gals. Thanks.

Modularpowerhouse has their own forums. Fairly large, and they have an entire section with dyno graphs from the 300-400 range, which is what you'll be looking at.

Tim claims that they have never lost a motor with the Mongoose kit, I have no reason to dispute that.

They do recommend you put your car on the dyno, to check A/F just to be sure the supplied tune is safe, before you get into boost.

I have had Tims original kit on my car since 2003. Its been perfect. I have not had a single issue with the car since I installed it. Ive never had my car dyno'd. I am using the steeda tune that he sold originally before he started doing his own. I beat on my car like a slave and its never failed. 12.13@114 mph with iron manifolds...

MPH's Mongoose kit is complete. Just bolt on and go.

I have had the Novi kit since 03 and never an issue, the tune was dead on.

Diff between the v1 and v2 is the v2 WILL flow a little better and is MUCH quieter. Get the v2 if it's a DD. Get the v1 if you don't mind hearing squeeking all the time.

I have a t-trim mongoose with paxton cooler.
the tune was perfect from day one, but i will warn you that if you go to houstonperformance they will try to tell you any tune but theirs is bad. whatever you do, don't give that place any money.
also, i can help you or install it for you really really cheap.
i have done a few of these now.
