Okay, so these looked beautiful before installation. If you read my posts, you know I was having hell putting these on. It is easily an all day job swapping valve covers. I do not know how a set of those BBK's would even fit on without pulling the engine out. You cam swappers can probably confirm the trouble of removing and installing valve covers when the engine is in place. Here are my scratched up turds. I had to do one side twice. I suggest buying new gaskets. The old ones are reusuable, but after 42,000 miles on a car I don't recommend it. Mine were strecthed pretty bad. I ordered new ones and they fit a little tight, but nothing silicone can't hold down. It looks so simple to do the valve covers, but it is not. I did this because I had too. One of my original valve covers cracked. These ones came off a Crown Vic. I had to get a new PCV to match up the hose, but all these valve covers are the same. Just need to know if you have 11 or 13 holes, and most cars should have 11. Try it out if you want. Have touch up paint ready. that's the next job. I even put three coats of clear on.

I know. The 2V's are just cluttered up. It doesn't look bad if there is a Kenne Bell sitting on top though. I would have never ever touched them, but I had to because one was cracked and leaking, and the other was leaking as well. None of the bolts on it were even tight. One side was gorilla tight and cracked, the other was hand tight. That robot must have been broken the day my engine was built.

I went to the Ford dealership and had them do my valve cover swap. $245 including tax. Even on the 4V engine it's a pain in the ass from people I've read about that did it. I'm not a mechanic, but I still thought that was a hell of a deal for a Ford dealership. The tech manual said 3 hours for installation at the dealership, and $80 an hour is what they charged me.

I think it looks pretty darn good

it's not your fault that the SOHC engines have so much clutter on top...

I think they look 100 times better then stock....Too bad the 2v engine is an ugly mofo. A C&L intake would make a big difference too.

And yes... yes... they are a pain to do especially keeping the drivers side gasket in place while trying to manuever the cam cover in place under this and that...

I also need to add p/s fluid. The brakes I am getting flushed and fluid changed next week.

I'm thinking about sticking a Kenne Bell or Saleen charger on top. I just don't have the down available to take it to a shop. Unless....I carpool with my girlfriend, do it at her house....hmmm...an idea is formulating.

1999 cobra valve cover

Im in the middle of removing a valve covers to powder coated . I ripped the upper intake manifold off and removed all the bolts but getting the fuel lines is where Im stumped can someone please help?

Looks good man.

I know an ASE mechanic that put the BBKs and and even he said it was a hellish experience, lol.

Nice work. When I do my blower, I plan on doing some Team Breed covers. I'm hoping that with the intake and other bits out of the way for the roots blower install, the job won't be too evil. Of course, down the line when I want cams, the shop I go to will have lots of fun with all that...

disconnect the clutch cable if you have a 5sp. Thats all I did on my 00 when I was doing my cam swaps. The only problem I had, was I bought fel-pro gaskets that didnt stay on for crap! The ford ones worked WAY better!

it was fun when I changed mine!!! The bolts on the outter passenger side were my favorite, especially the 2 middle ones... I even had the opportunity to buy 3 different 8 mm sockets (or 7/32, or something)!! I still honestly don't know where they went... Then physically fitting them in without losing the gaskets in the process was another enjoyable moment!! Such fun and happiness!! I can't wait until I get to do it again!!!!

I don't think mine look too bad.



I do think stock 2Vs have the ugliest engine bay of any late model cars and it takes some work to get it looking good. I like how the larger 4V valve covers looks cleaner and more menacing. And stock Machs and 03 Cobras look great from the get go.
