Recently I've read a few threads about the AODE shifting to neutral between the 2nd and 3rd gears when on the throttle hard. Ironically I started to get the same problem on my new tranny at the end of last week. The tranny would shift fine at normal to moderate throttle but at heavy throttle it would drop to neutral before shifting. So I did some research on the MLP (Manual Lever Position) sensor which seems to have a tendancy to fail. At Autozone it's referred to as a neutral safety switch and I think at Ford it's called a range sensor. This part is a $19-$25 part and took my mechanic today only 15 minutes to install and only cost me $30 labor. After the install I drove the car for a few hours using light, moderate and heavy throttle.......PROBLEM SOLVED!

So if you've got the same problem you can try this cheap fix to see if it works. One shop I brought the car to last year tried to charge me $200 for the switch with labor! Here's the link from Autozone that shows you the switch and how to install it http://www.autozone.com/servlet/UiB..._us/0900823d/80/0a/3c/ce/0900823d800a3cce.jsp.

thats nice, i have a 95 mustang GT (Auto), and i have the same exact problem when im driving normal everything is fine but when i put it down theres about a second and a half hesitation before it actually gets to the wheels and i can actually feel my car working lol, but yea is that same problem you were having before you got the fix? because if it is id do that in a heartbeat, anything so i can keep up with those Grand Prix (GTP) lol sad i know but just no money at all sorry guys.

im having a similar problem, when in drive if i give it heavy to moderat throttle it feels like the tranny spools up, as in neutral, then kicks in hard, the weird thing is when i put it down into first, and shift on my own two 3rd, it goes fine, no matter how hard i gas it. in just had the tranny rebuilt, 4k mi ago, and its under warranty if anything is bad, but i dont wanna hafta sit out 2 weeks with it while im at school, and its back home. How does the NSS have any effect on that. The othere wierd problem is that it sometimes decides to downshift Hard out of OD and chirps the tires on the highway, then shifts right back up??? it did it a few times from 3rd to 2nd too?
