Hey guys, I'm going to be mounting up my *painted* mach1 chin tomo and was just wondering where you guys mounted your chins. Did you mount it flush with the front or flush with the end of the bumper towards the wheel well? I hear that each way has a COMPLETE different look. Pics would be appreciated.

My stock one is about 1/8" from the wheel wells and about 1/16" back from the front bumper cover, as built by Ford.

I like how it protrudes from the fron V-Eight, but the gap towards the well kinda hits me like MEH!

Ambo and V_Eight, how did you guys paint yours? I scrape mine really bad on a driveway, I need to paint it. Did you sand it with something first?

desman, here's one on my 94 GT:

I mounted mine just like the Mach 1, flush with the wheel wells, and set back a little from the front of the bumper, although I don't know exactly how much.

How much did they charge you for it?

Talk about 4-wheeling it.

dude i know the decision your trying to make and it suxs.. Why wouldnt the factory make the part half an inch longer on each side by the wheel well. I hate that gap that it leaves when you mount the spoiler flush witht he front. I really like the looks from the front better with it mounted this way.

As for how did u paint it? I painted mine and so far its held up decent. I sanded the slick areas on the spoiler to give the primer something to stick to, gave the piece a nice coating of plastic primer, then 3 coats of paint, then 3 coats of clear.

Yes, you should sand it. Hit it with 180 then 320 then 400 then base and clear.

Where'd you get your paint from? You used a spray gun I'm guessing?

I don't know where mine was painted, it came that way. I buy paint either from school (tech. college) or a local paint store.

cost me about $55 for all materials at the NAPA. But be sure to use a plastic primer before putting your paint on. I used the aerosal cans that you pour your colored paint into and spray. The good paint is a little pricey but it matches great.
