Those with Performer intakes and Steeda Tri-ax's come in...questions?

Alright, anyone with a Performer intake knows how much of a pain the "middle" bolt is on the Performer that sits inside the intake is to get. What are ya'll's "easy" methods to remove it in that limited/cramped space?

Also, on my Tri-ax (blue handle, older style), there are 4 allen headed bolts that screw into the base tha bolts onto the transmission. I have lost one of those allen headed bolts, what size are they and where can I get replacements? Thanks! I just don't want to be shifting hard (because I do), with 3 out of the 4 in there...

just take one shifter bolt out and go to the hardware store and match it up.

Well it isn't a regular bolt, and I went by the local one and they didn't have them.

It is a round outer, but with an allen style inner. Just like when you put a smaller crank pulley on, you get the "allen headed" bolts...

You should be able to jsut replace all 4 bolts with regular 6 point bolts. Get some that are like 3/8ths of an inch longer than the stock bolts so you can get more bite an you wont rips the bolts outta the trans when you rip gears.

Easiest way to get that bolt in and out in the Edel's is using a ratching wrench. Makes for a short job... If you don't have ratching wrenches (i know they're expensive), just buy the one that fits that bolt.. worth the 15-20 bucks.

What PoopDawg said, ratcheting wrench.

That bolt is a "button head". If there is room for a bigger head just replace it with any type head you want. The thread is the important part.

Yeah the ratchet wrench is a good idea, but once you break the bolt loose it is floppy and doesn't have enough tension to keep the ratcheting going...it will turn it right or left...

Does anyone know the size of the tri-ax bolts? It is a tight space...

I'll check tonight for the size of my bolts... I think I just reused the stock ones, but I'll pull the cover off and take a look in there for you.

If you have the other bolts out, you can move the upper intake a little putting some side pressure on the bastid inside bolt, to hold it from rotating free.

That bolt sucks butt! I can just about get two fingers to it to turn by hand. It's just close enough that I jam my hand in there until it's cramped and mangled. I give up after about two revolutions and start wrenching.

Oh, and remember I'm not talking about the shifter bolts that bolt to the tranny...
