I'm going to be ordering a King Cobra clutch kit from UPR soon, and figured I'd kill two birds with one shipping & handling stone... Anyone know anything about the UPR clutch cable? It's been five years since I've been up on Mustang stuff!

They work fine. I personally would buy a stock replacement and a firewal adjuster. The adjustable cables snap easier. My .02

The one I linked was the non-adjustable. I already have a Forte's FWA.

Personally, I wouldn't buy anything from Uther People's Research. The stock clutch cable is the best choice for a clutch cable.

Why is that? Your former statement, not the latter; the latter is what I'm trying to do.

UPR does no in-house research. Everything the sell is a knock-off of other people's designs.

Case in point. I bought this vacuum tree from a guy on the Corral that thought it up, designed it and paid to have them made by a machine shop.

When he advertised it on Corral, his first sale, he found out after the fact, was to the wife of the owner of UPR. Six months later, they were selling exactly the same product and charging ten bucks less for it.

While certainly not illegal, that kind of crap is low and I won't do business with a company that has those kind of morals. I bought his next to last unit just because of that story, plus I think it looks nice.

OK, the stock cable really isn't an option. Ford wants $200 for a stock cable. AutoZone wants $24.

You can get a stock style cable for $50-60 online.

MM's cable is in the same ballpark.

What's the deal wih the ford racing clutch kit then?

Ford Racing M-7553-A302 - Ford Racing Clutch Linkage Upgrade Kits and Accessories - Overview - SummitRacing.com

I bought this for 40 with the clutch fork and sold the fork for 10 bucks.

Is this an oem cable or just Chinese junk? Why is the mm cable 200 and this one 40 with a fork? Same piece or not?

That's the cable most folks here are talking about. No one goes to the dealership for their cable.
Over time the sources have changed. Last I heard, the cable was being made in Taiwan but the QC was still quite good.

The MM universal cable is 60 bucks or so last time I looked.

For the price, I don't see why you would get any other. Of course The clutch fork is kinda a useless add in as most won't drop their tranny to swap it in,

So the consensus is that this cable is comparable to the OEM cable then? If so, is there any benefit to using this particular clutch fork as well? I'm swapping in a T-5z in a couple weeks anyway...
