I just tried to bolt up my P/S pump onto some aluminum heads and it doeasn't fit. The long bolt that goes through the braket and pump is 3/8" dia. The hole in the head is 7/16". I think I need the threaded insert that's used with a thermactor smog pump. Does anyone know what that part is called and is it a "dealer only" part?
Thanks.

The thermactor insert is larger than 7/16". I know, I just accidentally pulled one out of an E7 head yesterday. The inside threads were 7/16" the outer thread was more like 5/8". Be easier to drill your bracket to 7/16" and use a 7/16" bolt.

Yes, there is an insert

Had to buy two of them last summer to fit my GT-40 aluminum heads. Ford sells them for $35 each. Summit carries a knock off for $4 each, part number TFS-51400265. Power steering pump bolted right on.

Yep. summit has them. they are made by trick flow? They are like 4 dollars each like mentioned. They threaded in just fine into my AFR's.
