I will start with the fact:
I found out tonight that the ends that go into our alternators go bad. The wires actually come out/break near the base of the connectors-some being inside the connector itself. Guess there was a recall in the mid 90's on the alternators and ends - guess they were starting on fire
I didn't know that, maybe you guys do.
rant now:
Anyway, have had a problem with the stangs charging/battery system. I know the battery works cause it is a yellow top (deep cycle, so it being ran low all those times won't hurt it) and is curently working and in my daily driver truck.
Naturally I leaned then toward the alternator. I bought it at Advanced Auto like two and a half years ago. I thought it was just another of Advanced Autos quality
electrical parts.
I actually stopped going there almost three years ago when they tried to give me the run around with returning the last alternator. That alternator (bought from there) had only been on the stang for around 9months (test showed a bad diode). I had the lifetime on it too.

I go back tonight and funny how after the last time I was in (me and the manager had words) I don't have ANY parts warranty info under my name and number in the computer. Coencidence? Funny all my personal info is there but, none of the parts or warranties that I had from there is under my name. I orginally bought the alternator there so naturally I had to go back
, tested the one I recieved that day and it was all good. SO anyway I bought a new set of connectors, one was $8.58 the other was $6.96.
I despise those guys sooo much I HAVE to go to autozone to see if the test was correct. Waited for eternity then they checked it out. It came back as a bad alternator
HUH????!!!!! Oh now I am on a rampage, reason leaves out the door. Did they just want me to go out the door? Did the guy not hook up the alternator right? I saw him do it and saw the results, so what is going on?
I leave from there and decide to go to Orielys just to make sure. I knew that either way I would be able to find out if it is bad or good. Well they checked it and my alternator was fine.
thank god allah muhamad and all the rest of em
questions now:
1. I need a new powersteering pump, the old one is sprayin more fluid than ron jeremy. The seal at the pulley is gone. Do I dare put a new one on now? Or wait till I change out the old rack? - new rack is sitting on the floor out in the other room. I will not be able to replace this for a couple months at the earliest though.
2. Can putting the new one on damage it because of old fluid/possible contaminents?
3. On a new part, if you paint it, does it void a warranty from a parts place? Getting the new p/s pump, I want to paint it before I put it on. Does anyone know?
