The intake manifold has plenum opening of 75mm. Should I go with a 70mm or 75mm? I may want to supercharge later on, so should I just go with the 75mm? I've heard bad things about the BBK throttle body making an annoying loud whistling sound. Which brand name should I go for? And what size mass air meter would I want to go with? 73? 77? 80?

i run a 75mm BBK with a 76mm C&L maf.... if the intake has a 75mm opening, theres no sense in going with a 70mm IMO. No need to create a bottle neck if not nessicary. Go with the 75 and you want a MAF slightly larger, 76,77 is fine.

as far as whistling, theres a slight lip on the inside of the TB where the vacuum tube comes out. Thats where the whistle comes from, just get a dremel bit and grind it down flush. The whistling will go away.

ditto. ten minutes with a dremel will cure the whistle.

thank you tanner. so it would be pointless to go with a 80mm maf? also is the bbk throttle body still worth buying even though i have to grind it down or go with another brand? the bbk maf any good or should i go with the c&l?

personally I would go with whatever TB you can get a better deal on. there are several brands out there that make the whistle and its all b/c of the same reason.

so there really shouldn't be a difference with the bbk or accufab? accufab is supposed to be the best one.

theres quite a few brands of MAFs and everyone will have their own opinion, i like my C&L, it works and looks good in line with my CAI. an 80mm maf isnt going to hurt you as long as its calibrated for the injectors you're using. I havent had any issues with my BBK TB, Accufab is good quality too though, so you cant really go wrong.

Use the proper TB based on your engine combo.
If the engine is stock, use a 65mm.
H/C/I, use a 70mm
Don't goto a 75mm unless you have a SC or stroker.
I've seen it tested first hand, a bigger TB is not necessarily better.

For the meter, get one as big or bigger than the TB.
If you can get an 80mm pmas or old pro m, you should do so.
I wouldn't use a C&L if you gave it to me for free. The stock sensor with different sampling tube is incredibly inaccurate.
PMAS calibrates all their meters individually, it's not a one size fits all with a sampling tube change.

If you haven't purchased a tb, buy whatever size tb matches the inlet. You can NOT go "too big" on a tb unless its larger than the inlet. Get a quality accufab tb.
