I need to find out at what point should I swap for a 70mm or even 75mm TB. My desire is to get a new upper plenium but I will also be doing a lower intake swap to a PI and probably a cam swap to the Comp 268's or Crower's 62811's. I will have stock NPI heads also. Would I be fine with the stock 65mm with swap to new plenium? Also should I swap MAF at the same time or would that be a waste NA?

well you can do a stock t/b with a plenum, you just wont get as much hp out of it obviously. & depending on which plenum you get, will determine which t/b you should get. for instance: a c&l works better with a 75mm t/b, but a accufab works better with a 70mm (info courtesy of 01trueblue :nice: ). the maf would prolly be a waste of money with it, get the t/b instead of the maf :D

soooo..... is the youngin' not getting the stang now? :D

check out Matts write up on modulardepot.com
I saw both write-ups on the 70 and 75mm TB's. But unfortunaly there were no numbers on the stock TB w/pleniums. Now that I've been researching a little I'm not sure the pleniums fit on a stock 65mm TB. It also looked like they worked better with the 70mm than 75. I think the 75 would come into play when your hp numbers were getting into toe 350 and up range and I'll never be close to that.

Well...some version of it anyway. Most of this stucff can come off if I decide it is too much. :nice:

You don't need a 75mm. Yes the MAF is worth it. I tested mine with the stock MAF and my 85mm C&L, and it was a no contest win for the C&L. You barely feel the plenum and TB with your stock MAF, at least I couldn't tell. Much better throttle response with the MAF.

70mm Throttle body
-----Stock---------Accufab----------C&L--------------Dragon
RWHP 256.09-------264.61 (+7.94)---262.70 (+6.61)---263.15 (+7.06)
RWTQ 289.43-------297.03 (+7.6)----293.83 (+4.4)----293.16 (+3.73)

75mm Throttle body
------Stock----Accufab-------C&L------------Dragon---------Trick Flow
RWHP 265.97--272.38 (+6.31) 271.13 (+5.16) 270.69 (+4.72) 270.19 (+4.22)
RWTQ 303.54--310.42 (+6.88) 306.05 (+2.51) 307.27 (+3.73) 306.61 (+3.07)

With the numbers in one place to look at it seems the 70mm TB does best with the minimal mods/HP. The 75mm did better in MM&FF article because that car was laying down 400hp.

Be sure and look at not just the peak numbers, but he is right, the Accufab outperformed in both cases.
