Throttle body question

If you're just swapping intakes, it's only 12 more bolts... The only part that could be considered 'tricky' is sealing across the front & rear. Unhook everything that's attached to your intake now, lay it out in order. Bolt the new intake down and put all the hardware back on. Be sure to have the right size wrench or a large adjustable for the heater pipes. Unhook the battery before you start. Using a permanent marker, make match marks on the front of the distributor & block and then again on the inside of the distributor & the rotor and then DO NOT turn the engine over at all until the distributor is back in. An intake swap really isn't that difficult. Just take your time, be patient and ask all your questions. You may want to pick up a few gaskets and a can of 'the Right Stuff' ahead of time. i.e. Thermostat housing gasket, Intake gaskets (FelPro-1250 or equivalent), upper-lower gasket. Maybe a quality set of intake bolts if they're in your budget :nice:

i didnt know about the thermostat gasket so i have to get that. i have all the other ones. should i use the old thermostat or look into getting a new one. i guess i will try to get the lower off maybe this weedend or next depending on when i have everything i need. im also going to look into new bolts like you said, thanks

Anything to help :D

That is a bunch of bullsh it. If you want it done right, do it yourself as the saying goes. Spend a few hundred bucks on some tools and have some fun. Thats what these projects are all about!! Hell, if I lived near you I wouldn't mind helping you wrench. Just hook me up with a nice lunch/dinner :nice: Just a few weeks ago I helped my friend tear his engine apart, then the next day we yanked the motor/trans out. Call me crazy, but I didn't mind it at all.

Well, since then, Only my general mechanic (some other BS) and Joe and Jose have touched the car with me Both those guys have helped me bigtime, and all for just a couple beers and some food.

Except for the that stupid a$$ oil leak (small) car runs and feels fine.

Ill have my general mechanic do the 347 (he said I could come by the shop and work on it with him for a small fee) that I order from CHP. He can do an engine swap..he just doesnt know a whole lot about the power adder tuning stuff.

while im at it,should the thermostat be changed and if so to which one? i was looking online and found the water necks and i found two mr gasket sets that come with the gaskets and bolts. one of them comes out then up like a right angle but the other one kinda just comes up at an angle. i get the one that has the right angle right? they are mr gasket # 2662 and 9713
