Throttle body stuck!

I am trying to remove the entire throttle body off my 93 LX 5.0 and it WONT BUDGE!!! I removed the air intake duct (plastic), the sensor wires, and the four bolts that attach it to the stock intake. I tried and TRIED but it WONT MOVE! Any tips?? Am I missing a few bolts that I did not take out??? Anyone who has been there/done that, please respond!

Give it a few taps with a hammer, it's just stuck, it'll come off.

it sounds like you got everything. The 4 nuts/bolts/studs are all that really keeps it on.

it's probably been a long time since it was off last (if ever). It's probably just stuck and needs a tap. Try a rubber mallet or a hammer and a block of wood. Don't go too crazy though. I wouldn't try prying it off with anything so you don't mess up gasket surfaces.

Don't forget the throttle cable on the bottom either. GL

Cool. I will try again. Any clue how to disconnect the throttle cables??

The cable attaches to the throttle body at the pivot arm (which opens the plate inside the T.B.). The cable is snapped onto a "ball" on this arm. You can use a screwdriver to pry it off this "ball."

It shouldnt take too much effort to get it off.

I'd be REEEALLY careful if you use the mallet method, keep in mind the fuel rail, injectors, and regulator are all right there below the throttle body/EGR spacer. I'm sure a light tap will do it, but make sure it doesn't drop hard onto those components.

I had the same problem a few yaers ago with my stock TB. It would not budge. I eventually got it off without damage.

What I did: Take two nuts and thread them on one of the TB studs. Take two wrenches and tighten them together. Then turn the nut that is closest to the intake. This will remove the stud. After removing the first stud I found a ton of corrosion between the stud and the inside of the TB. Do this for all four studs. Once you get all four studs out then tap the TB with a soft hammer.

The corrosion between the studs and the inside of the TB is why mine would not come out. So using this technique of removing the studs first, allowed me to get the TB off without damage.

I had one so bad I had to use a torch and heat it up and give it a beating and it finally came off, it was mainly rust and corrosion all inside there.

I got the throttle body off with a ton of effort. It made a pop sound when it came off. The problem I have now is that the spacer wont come off! I have three of the studs moving free, but the lower left hand corner is STUCK! I hit it with a rubber mallet, pryed, and have done everything I can! I dont know how to get it off now other than heat...
