My 88 Gt has a delayed throttle response when I hit the gas it takes even at idle it takes almost a second to repond I can definately hear the difference what could it be sticky throttle cable? Dirty throttle body? any opinions or help would be appreciated.

is it worse if you are at idle, and then floor the pedal? said another way, does it do this if you feather the gas, or take off at normal speed (in traffic, etc)?

the SD cars seem to have a slight hitch in the giddy-up from idle to immediate WOT- mine does it, so i keep an eye out for others who say the same - and a few have.

My 86' has excellent throttle response, from each idle to WOT, and light throttle applications.

How long has it been since you've done a tune-up? Timing? TPS voltage?

it is most noticeable from a idle feathering the gas. Does this mean that since I have speed density this is just something I will have to deal with until I convert to mass air? I dont know how long its been since it got a tune up I bought it about 2 weeks ago.

Well, if money is not too much of an issue, I would go ahead and do a full tune up- plugs, wires, dist cap, rotor, air filter, oil, oil filter, throttle body clean-out, egr clean out, throttle stop adjustment, TPS adjustment, timing, IAC clean out...and a few other things I have missed. It can't hurt, and you will become intimately familiar with your car.

Oh yeah, pull the codes too..
