I read in Silverbullets thread about starting over on a new car someone wrote that late model E series vans had 70mm throttle bodies that will bolt up to Mustang 4.6L. Anyone have any verification of heard anything at all about it before. I find it hard to believe I wouldnt have heard of this before.

Yes, that is my mod. I don't remember the year of the van, (2000 maybe) but the t/b was a direct swap. I didn't even have to change the tps sensor, plus it came with a black spacer that was about 1/8'' thick. All factory Ford. Most people don't know about it because they don't think about it, or work on the stuff enough. Those that do know keep their mouth shut (damn) because people will go strip them outta junkyards. Here is one on eBay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Throttle-Valve-Body-1999-to-2000-FORD-VAN_W0QQitemZ8048284239QQcmdZViewItem This may not be the exact one, as I said, it has been awhile. I'll make an inquiry to someone who would remember tonight.

I swapped mine out for one that came in for service. He rolled outta the shop with a Mustang GT 65mm, and I took his 70mm. Yes, we measured the diameter. Not sure if the motor was a 4.2. Think it was. It has been about three years and I don't have that car anymore.

So you're saying someone brought their van in to be serviced and you swapped their TB for a worse flowing one? If I brought my car in with a 70mm TB and found out that someone swapped it for a 65mm I'd be pissed...

Well, if it was a nice Mustang we'd have left it alone. But a Ford van used for work? I doubt they'll miss their throttle body. Besides, they got a brand new one off a 2003 GT. I had to soak the van one in parts cleaner for awhile to get the crud off.

That is freakin sweet. If you can find the exact year, model and engine I will get one muy pronto. Saves me alot of money. Let us know as soon as you can. I have often thought about there being such a swap but Ford has about a million different throttlebodies and I'd never know where or how to start looking.

A new aviator TB will work too. It is also a 70mm.
2V Modular from ************ posted all about it over there.
